No longer being oneself. 6. Having entered the path of individual liberation and the Bodhisattva path, if the mind of enlightenment and vows are degenerated and broken, then there is no place to go but the lower realms, and one cannot escape from the state of no leisure. 7. Even if one receives the four empowerments of secret mantra, if the samaya vows to the lama and dharma brothers are degenerated and broken, then one leads oneself and others to ruin, cutting off the opportunity for accomplishment. 8. This is called the eight states of no leisure of a mind that has lost hope. When one becomes an opponent of the holy Dharma, one's mind wanders, etc. Furthermore, the antidote for having little remorse is: wherever one is born in the three realms of samsara, one should know that its nature is suffering, and thus generate the mind of renunciation. The antidote for lack of faith is: repeatedly contemplate the qualities of the Dharma and the lama, and thus generate unwavering faith. The antidote for desire and attachment is: knowing that worldly possessions and enjoyments are impermanent, like illusions, thus cutting the bonds of attachment. The antidote for bad conduct is: relying on the peace and gentleness of body, speech, and mind, thus taming one's own mind with the Dharma. Some wise people say that there is no antidote for bad conduct. The antidote for non-virtuous and sinful actions is: having faith in the law of karma, and thus confessing sins and keeping vows. The antidote for losing faith in the Dharma and going astray is: generating the desire to encounter the holy Dharma, which is difficult to find, and thus abandoning the evil deeds of body, speech, and mind that are contrary to the Dharma. The antidote for the degeneration of individual liberation and Bodhisattva vows is: if the individual liberation vows are degenerated, then restore them and thus protect the vows correctly. When Jowo Rinpoche was asked by a pandita: What is the cause of pure vows? He replied: It is the mind of enlightenment. Therefore, one should also learn the cause of vows. If the two minds of aspiration and engagement of the Bodhisattva are degenerated, then if one confesses before one-sixth of the time has passed, it will not become a root downfall, so one must confess. The antidote for broken samaya vows is: if the mantra vows are degenerated, then apply the antidote as with the Bodhisattva vows, and confess and purify as it is said in the tantras, thus protecting the samaya vows. Like this, the twenty-four qualities of leisure and the ten endowments, these thirty-four, one should examine one's own mind stream well, and if they are not complete, one should strive to complete them by various means. If they are complete, one should cultivate joy. Like this, having found such a great meaning, it is a pity that even one morning was spent meaninglessly in the past! Now quickly

Since it is illusory and meaningless, do not waste time on meaningless things, but strive to find an eternal refuge. Think repeatedly until a transformation occurs within your heart. The result of this is a change in your heart that is different from before. Before any change, big or small, occurs, you must think clearly. In the preliminary practice of "The Clear Path to Liberation," it is said that there are four ways to turn the mind: "Leisure and opportunity are as rare as the Udumbara flower; if obtained, they are more meaningful than a wish-fulfilling jewel. Now that we have obtained such an opportunity only once, if we do not accomplish the ultimate aspiration, may the Guru, the embodiment of all Buddhas, look upon us who waste our time with compassion, and bless us to make our leisure meaningful." Thus it is said. Second, impermanence of life: Now, without illness, etc. Now, the body is not afflicted by diseases of the four elements, and the mind is not tormented by great suffering. One is not enslaved by others, such as bad friends, and is not under the control of others. Therefore, at this time when one's own body and mind are free, and the causes and conditions for practicing the Dharma are fully present, if one is lazy and wastes one's leisure, and death suddenly arrives, then one cannot expect to be separated from one's retinue, the wealth accumulated through sin, and the relationships with loved ones and friends, for a long time. Moreover, this body, which has been carefully nurtured and clung to with food and clothing, will soon be stripped naked from the bed and taken to an empty place, where foxes, vultures, dogs, and other creatures will tear at the flesh with their claws and teeth, devouring it with terrifying sounds. Consciousness in the bardo realm follows only the black and white karma, experiencing unimaginable terrifying visions, becoming extremely terrible. Therefore, turn your own and others' minds towards the Dharma now. Like this, because one does not know when one will die, one does not know whether one will live to the end. The way everyone dies in a prepared state. Whether old or young, one does not know when one will die. There are many causes of death. Dying from illness after eating, etc., there are many examples, and it is impossible to be certain.
