Thus, it is generally explained because the mind is uncontrollable. In particular, if one is controlled by a demonic friend who shows upside-down views and practices, one's own mind will turn to the wrong path, contradicting the true Dharma. 1. Those whose five poisons and afflictions in their own continuum are very coarse and chaotic, even if they have a few thoughts of wanting to practice the Dharma, they are mostly controlled by the power of the five poisons in their own continuum, and they cannot achieve the true Dharma. 2. When those who have accumulated bad karma in the past diligently practice the Dharma, the fruits of bad karma fall on their own heads. When the great ocean of suffering bursts forth, they do not recognize it as the result of their own actions, and they become disillusioned with the Dharma. 3. Those who want to learn the Dharma but are lazy without any diligence are controlled by distraction and procrastination, and they cannot achieve the Dharma. 4. Those who have no autonomy and are enslaved by others, even if they have a few thoughts of wanting to practice the Dharma, they are controlled by others and are not allowed to practice the Dharma. 5. They enter the Dharma gate in order to protect themselves from the fear of food and clothing in this life, or from diseases, evil spirits, and the punishment of the king, but because they have no conviction in the Dharma from the bottom of their hearts, they engage in non-Dharmic activities due to their old habits. 6. With the intention of achieving this life by obtaining gain, respect, fame, etc., (doing) false accomplished ones, false treasure revealers, false mani-pas, etc., pretend to be practitioners in the eyes of others, but whatever they do becomes the cause of falling into the lower realms, and they are separated from the path of liberation. 7. Those who are very foolish and ignorant, without even a little light of wisdom, even if they enter the Dharma gate, they cannot understand even a little of the words and meanings of the Dharma, and they have no opportunity to practice hearing, thinking, and meditating. 8. Furthermore, any of the eight unfree states caused by sudden and temporary circumstances such as sinful friends, etc., become obstacles and hindrances that are incompatible with the Dharma in my continuum, and when they become more serious, thoughts, etc. Therefore, one must also carefully observe one's own continuum and rely on antidotes one by one to counteract these adverse conditions. The antidote to being controlled by demons is to rely on a virtuous friend whose view and conduct are pure and controlled by bodhicitta in their continuum. The antidotes to the five poisons are, the antidote to desire is ugliness, the antidote to hatred is love, the antidote to ignorance is

Severance. As an antidote to pride, adopt a humble attitude, prostrate, etc. As an antidote to jealousy, one should cultivate rejoicing. As an antidote to the occurrence of bad karma, one should not become discouraged with the Dharma, but should have faith in the infallibility of cause and effect, and confess with regret the accumulation of bad karma in the past. As an antidote to laziness, one should remember death and impermanence from the depths of one's heart, and initiate constant diligence and respectful diligence. As an antidote to being a servant of others, one should strive for a good way to escape from being involuntarily a servant of lamas and the wealthy. As an antidote to fear, one must be seized by a mind of renunciation and a pure mind of bodhicitta. As an antidote to pretending to be Dharma, one must recognize that the faults of practicing Dharma for the sake of this life are extremely great, and therefore abandon it. The foolish and ignorant do not understand even if they hear, do not understand even if they think, and do not generate realization of the nature of reality even if they meditate. This is because of the obscurations caused by abandoning the Dharma and other bad deeds in the past. Therefore, as an antidote to this, one must perform confession with the four powers complete, and pray to the deity Manjushri, the holy one who increases wisdom. Second, the eight unfavorable conditions of mind that cut off hope, such as lack of renunciation, etc. "Cutting off hope" means that because one cuts off one's own continuum from both liberation and the state of omniscience, it is called "cutting off hope." That is to say, even if the faults of the lower realms and samsara are explained, or the sufferings of this life, one will not generate renunciation and fear at all, so the root of the mind of renunciation, the cause of entering the Dharma, will not arise. 1. If one lacks the wealth of reverence and faith in the true Dharma and the lama, the gateway to the teachings will be blocked and one will not be able to enter the path of liberation. 2. Being tightly bound by the lasso of desire for the pleasures of samsara, one has no time to practice the holy Dharma. 3. Those whose behavior of body, speech, and mind is extremely rude, even if they meet a true spiritual friend, are difficult to be led into the holy path. 4. Because one does not fear unwholesome deeds and their ripening, the three doors are not subdued, one will be separated from the qualities of the holy ones and turn away from the Dharma. 5. Even if one enters the Dharma gate, if all the actions of the three doors are contrary to the Dharma, it means that one has embarked on a wrong path. Therefore, virtues will not arise in one's own continuum.
