Becoming the refuge at all times and in all states. Accomplishing the meaning of selection without inversion. Fourth, accomplishing the meaning of selection without inversion has four aspects: the basis for engaging in accomplishment, which is the nature of the lineage; the object that the accomplisher knows; the reason why the Bodhisattva is called a Great Being for the sake of accomplishment; and the accomplishment and the essence. First, if one thinks that there is no difference in the Dharmadhatu, and from the perspective of ultimate truth, it is not appropriate to differentiate lineages. Although it is so in terms of ultimate truth, in terms of conventional truth, understanding the distinctions of different Dharma practices, such as the basis for engaging in practice, the basis for engaging in antidotes, and the ways of engaging in abandonment, there is no contradiction in explaining the differences in Dharma nature. For example, although there is no difference in space, there are statements such as 'the space of the east'. Second, the object to be known by the accomplisher. It is divided into general and specific explanations. First, the general explanation: the object is all Dharmas, which are good, etc. Second, the specific explanation: worldly realization, which is the aggregates, elements, sense bases, the ten virtues, the immeasurable meditations, the formless realms, and the five supernormal cognitions. Those who consider the supramundane Dharmas are from the four mindfulnesses to the eighteen unshared Dharmas. The defiled Dharmas are the aggregates, elements, sense bases, the immeasurable meditations, and the formless realms. The undefiled Dharmas are from the four mindfulnesses to the unshared Dharmas. The conditioned Dharmas are the three realms and the unshared Dharmas that belong to the conditioned. The unconditioned is the exhaustion of the three poisons and the perfectly established nature of suchness. The learners are the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and the common Dharmas are the four meditations, the four immeasurable minds, the four formless realms, and the five supernormal cognitions. The Buddha's unshared Dharmas are the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and the powers, etc., up to the eighteen unshared Dharmas. Third, the reason why the Bodhisattva is called a Great Being for the sake of accomplishment is the excellence of all sentient beings, etc. Half of it is what is to be done, and what is the other half? The three great ones are half of it. The Great Being is what is to be done. For what purpose is the Bodhisattva called a Great Being? It is the great mind, the great renunciation, and the great realization that become the excellence of all sentient beings. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great Bodhisattvas, possessing these three, are the essence of the three great Bodhisattvas. For the sake of essence, they are called great Bodhisattvas; this should be understood. Fourth is the nature of practice, including the practice of armor, entering, accumulating, and determining. First, the vast practice completely taken up by vast meditation, which is to perfect all pāramitās within one pāramitā. For example, the six pāramitās such as generosity, the generosity of generosity, etc., each having six within them, gathering these individually. What is the practice of armor? It is the six sets of six perfections as spoken of in the sūtras, which should be explained as they are. Second is the practice of entering, including the nature, the object of entry, and three aspects. First, Bodhisattvas engage in the six perfections such as generosity, entering and arising from the four meditations, four immeasurables, and four formless absorptions, sharing these virtues with all sentient beings and dedicating them to unsurpassed enlightenment. This is the practice of entering the formless absorptions of meditation. While entering these absorptions, perfecting the six perfections is the practice of entering through generosity and so forth. Meditating from the mindfulness to the eighteen unshared qualities is the practice of entering the path. Devoting oneself to protecting all sentient beings is the samādhi of loving-kindness; devoting oneself to compassion for all sentient beings is the samādhi of compassion; devoting oneself to liberating all sentient beings is the samādhi of joy; devoting oneself to exhausting the defilements of all sentient beings is the samādhi of equanimity. These are the practices of entering through loving-kindness and so forth. Knowing all phenomena with wisdom that has no entry, aiming at all phenomena such as inner emptiness, and possessing the manner of non-entry. The six perfections that purify the three spheres, and the six perfections of the eight desires, are said to destroy obstacles. For the sake of this occasion, the purpose of meditating on the four equanimities is to meditate on everything from inner emptiness to the unshared qualities in a non-objective manner. Meditating on various meditations means that it is like all objective meditations. In order to perfect the Abhisamayas, from the arising of the first thought until the heart of enlightenment, maturing sentient beings and making offerings to the Buddhas is Abhisamaya. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
