Is the very nature of the source of great merit. Third, the nature of rejoicing: that all dharmas lack inherent existence, and that rejoicing does not contradict this, demonstrates the bodhisattva's skillful means; rejoicing in the roots of virtue of all that is unobservable is, as it is, rejoicing in suchness, which is said and shown here to be the way to cultivate the sacred mind of contemplation. Fourth, the perfection of wisdom (Prajnaparamita) that embodies the path of meditation: The nature of this profound perfection of wisdom is that it removes all faults and darkness, and is exceedingly pure and illuminating. This perfection of wisdom is supreme among the other perfections and the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, without the practice of form, etc., because it does not manifestly adhere to all forms, etc., and does not attain any dharma. The perfection of wisdom is practice, and by the method of focusing on the perfection of wisdom, one does not attain any dharma, but praises and attains the lineage of the yogi in whom dharmas are unobservable. Because a Bodhisattva trusts in the perfection of wisdom, he does not trust in all the imputed dharmas of form, etc., and because he focuses on all the eternal dharmas, he trusts in the perfection of wisdom. That is a great matter. So, what is the cause of trusting in the perfection of wisdom, which is so profound that it is difficult to admire? From the time of first generating the mind of enlightenment, one has attended and served countless Buddhas, and practiced the six perfections for countless eons. A Bodhisattva who has entered unsurpassed enlightenment is the cause of trusting in this profound perfection of wisdom, and diligently strives without focusing on generosity, etc. Whoever is skilled in the means of not seeing the increase or decrease of all dharmas is the cause of a sharp-witted Bodhisattva trusting in this profound perfection of wisdom from the moment of first generating the mind of enlightenment. So, what is the cause of not trusting and abandoning the dharma of the profound perfection of wisdom? It is being oppressed and blessed by the shadow of Mara, and not trusting or admiring the profound dharma of the truly established suchness, manifestly clinging to the aggregates, etc., as true entities, and being completely seized by evil friends. These are the four causes. Fifth, there are three purities of the path of meditation: the nature of the ground and the result, the way in which the adventitious stains of inherent nature are purified from the very beginning. To that, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to dispel disputes Firstly, the Dharmata (nature of reality) of the resultant Nirvana (liberation from the cycle of rebirth) is pure in its own nature. The self-nature purity of Dharmas (phenomena) and so on is just that. Why? Because they are one, and therefore cannot be separated or distinguished. Because they are indivisible and without distinction, they are not objects, not included, and powerful. From the perspective of non-difference, they are not different, indivisible, indestructible, and unbreakable. Therefore, that pure Dharmata is said and shown to be of the same essence. Secondly, there is the way the Dharmata of the Four Noble Ones (Sravaka, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, Buddha) is purified, and the way the Dharmata of the nine meditation paths, such as small, medium, etc., is purified. Firstly, the Dharmata from the disciple who has entered the stream (Srotapanna) to the Arhat (one who has attained liberation) is purified by abandoning what is to be abandoned by each. Because the afflictions to be abandoned by each have diminished and disappeared. The Dharmata of the Pratyekabuddha (Solitary Realizer) is purified by abandoning what is to be abandoned by each. Because the afflictions and cognitive obscurations (Jnana-avarana, ज्ञान-आवरण, Obstructions to knowledge) to be abandoned by each have diminished and been abandoned. The Dharmata of the Bodhisattva (enlightenment being) who abides on the Bhumis (grounds) is purified by abandoning what is to be abandoned by each. Because the obscurations of the three paths (path of seeing, path of cultivation, path of no more learning) to be abandoned by each have diminished and been purified. The Suchness (Tathata, तथाता, Thusness) of the Buddha is not completely pure at all times and in all ways, because both obscurations (afflictive and cognitive) along with their habitual tendencies have been abandoned by relying on antidotes. Secondly, in the nine grounds of the three realms (desire realm, form realm, formless realm), the Dharmata of the meditation path, from the greatest of the great antidotes to the smallest of the small, is purified by the defilements to be abandoned by each. Because each is purified and clarified by the antidotes to be abandoned. Thirdly, the way to dispel disputes is: if a small antidote cannot eliminate a great object to be abandoned, and a great antidote cannot eliminate a small object to be abandoned, it is unreasonable. It is also unreasonable to eliminate the obscurations of all three realms with an antidote that exists in one realm. So, what are these meditation paths? There are two ways: the way to eliminate defilements and the way to become an antidote. To this, a response must be given to refute the criticism. There is no fault in dispelling it with examples such as a small light dispelling great darkness and a great light dispelling small darkness. The path that exists in one realm is the knowing consciousness that measures and the clear light Dharmadhatu (realm of phenomena), and the object and the knowing consciousness become one and are accustomed to being equal in non-duality, thus eliminating all the obscurations of the three realms. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
