If you ask why this is said, it is not. Because they are the parents of many lifetimes! Without altruism, one has no chance to be liberated from samsara and nirvana. If you do not practice in this way, you will not obtain the above benefits, so you must generate the mind for the benefit of others. The actual practice for this is twofold: conventional and ultimate. In the conventional aspect, there are two types of bodhicitta: aspirational bodhicitta and practical bodhicitta. Aspirational bodhicitta is: with the strong intention of wanting all sentient beings to be liberated from samsara by myself alone as the guide, practicing the four immeasurables. Practical bodhicitta is practicing the ten perfections. Ultimate bodhicitta is having the essence of emptiness and compassion. For this, first one needs to train the mind in the four immeasurables, namely, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. For this, first one needs to train the mind in the four immeasurables, namely, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. For this, first, loving-kindness is to think in this way with one-pointed concentration: one mother, all sentient beings who harm us, etc., there is not one who has not been my parents. Moreover, they have been my mothers countless times, raising me without regard for anything, without regard for any happiness or suffering, bad words, etc., all sentient beings who have raised me with countless hardships, thinking of these as my mothers, seeing them suffering, eliminating their suffering. In order to benefit these mothers, I give all my body, possessions, roots of virtue, etc., to these mothers, until samsara is empty.
