If it is not done in this way, Machig (Machig Labdrön) said: If one is born into the lower realms, the suffering there is, in general, animals and scattered animals appearing here, in general, hungry ghosts and scattered hungry ghosts wandering in the sky, in general, hell is both hot and cold, the surrounding hells and the two scattered neighboring hells, in general, these three places, and the differences in each sentient being's karma, the results of the karma they have created, and all the sufferings they need to endure, must be well thought over, and it must definitely leave a deep impression in the mind. Like this, seeing the way the three lower realms experience karma, and how they stay there for a long time, until just thinking about the separation of flesh and bones causes fear, and even the heart beats faster, one must think in this way. Even a little bit of karma that leads to being born there, even if it endangers life, one must resolve not to do it. In general, regarding the three lower realms, especially the karma of hell like this, one should think that it is best not to have seen it before, and not to have heard it with the ears, and one must definitely generate aversion to the lower realms, this is a vow to think about it at least once a day.
