Even if those above rise up as enemies, awareness is a miracle of the mind. One should proceed without fear or apprehension, thinking that there is not a single moment of true existence. Second, proceeding like a tiger: one should roar at awareness, being endowed with the experience of understanding emptiness and with the wisdom of knowing non-reality. Exert effort in awareness, brighten the senses, display rough behavior, and proceed while uttering PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体,phaṭ,梵文罗马拟音,phaṭ,Meaning: cut!). Third, proceeding like a steep waterfall: whatever fear or apprehension arises, without losing oneself in it, without hesitation, like an enraged elephant, or like a thunderbolt falling, or like a steep waterfall, one should proceed without obstruction. Having arrived, the practice is threefold: suppressing gods and demons, placing conceptual thoughts on a millstone, and removing self-grasping from its object. First, suppressing gods and demons is like using poison against poison. Therefore, if one sits on water, rock, tree, or whatever support the gods and demons inhabit, the gods and demons will angrily appear. For example, if one goes to catch a cowardly dog, it will run away. In general, when an ordinary person without any experience of profound secret instructions falls asleep at night, just because a god or demon enters the room where he is sleeping, that person becomes very frightened, his consciousness becomes clouded, he breaks out in a cold sweat, and so on. This is the power of the gods and demons. But when the cutter goes to the support where the gods and demons reside, the power, ability, and glory of the other obstructing forces disappear, and all miraculous powers are pacified. For example, if garlic is placed at the entrance of a poisonous snake's nest, the snake's poison will be pacified and its power will become empty. This is the practice of the sixth day. First, when going to cut, there are three ways: proceeding fearlessly like a lion, proceeding with a roar like a tiger, and proceeding without obstruction like a steep waterfall. First, proceeding like a lion: even if those above, from the peak of existence, and those below, down to Naraka hell, rise up as enemies, awareness is a miracle of the mind. One should proceed without fear or apprehension, thinking that there is not a single moment of true existence. Second, proceeding like a tiger: one should roar at awareness, being endowed with the experience of understanding emptiness and with the wisdom of knowing non-reality. Exert effort in awareness.

With wrathful energy erupting, majesty revealed, and actions displayed fiercely. Proceed after uttering PHAṬ (藏文,梵文天城体,phaṭ,摧破). Third, proceeding like a waterfall from a steep cliff: Whatever fear or unease arises, do not be swayed by it. Without hesitation in mind, like an elephant gone mad, or like a thunderbolt descending, or like a waterfall from a steep cliff, proceed without obstruction. Having arrived, engage in practice: Subduing gods and demons, placing conceptual thoughts in danger, and expelling self-grasping from its domain. Among these, first, subduing gods and demons: It is like fighting poison with poison. If you sit by the water, on a rock, by a tree, or in any place where gods and demons reside, the gods and demons will emerge in a state of panic. For example, it is like a cowardly dog running away when chased. In reality, for an ordinary person without any profound secret instructions for practice, when night falls and they go to sleep, if a god or demon enters the room where they are sleeping, they will become extremely frightened, their consciousness will become clouded, they will break out in cold sweats, and so on. This is the power of gods and demons. The one who cuts through this is the one who goes to the place where the gods and demons reside, and the power, ability, and glory of other obstacles will vanish, and all miraculous powers will be pacified. For example, if garlic is placed at the entrance of a poisonous snake's nest, the poison of the frog will be neutralized, and its power will become empty. Second, placing conceptual thoughts in danger: At first, you are unable to go to dangerous places, in the middle, you are unable to sleep, and in the end, you are unable to offer your own body, and so on. If something arises that you are unable to do, then add fear upon fear. If you are afraid, then liberate yourself upon fear. If you are terrified, then lie down and sit upon terror, and you will sever the thread of wisdom, be liberated from the bonds of self-grasping, the false cave of fear will collapse, and the feeling of dread and trembling will dissipate. For example, like a horse, donkey, or yak that is afraid to cross a bridge or a very narrow path, force it to go there, and afterwards it will proceed without hesitation. Third, expelling self-grasping from its domain: The one who feels fear, the one who feels unease, the one who is unable to do, the one who dares not do, and so on, where are they? What is their essence? Examine them carefully, and then follow pure awareness, like an old woman pointing the way, and thoroughly investigate its root. By doing so, self-grasping will vanish without support and become unreal.
