All phenomena are the magical display of the unborn mind. Know that in reality, there is not a single thing that is truly established. Secondly, with a good grasp of practice and realization, no matter what adverse conditions and obstacles arise, recognize them without fear or hesitation. And understand that everything is unreal, like cutting water with a sword after the fact. Thirdly, no matter what happiness or suffering arises, know that all of these are conventional truths, and there is not a single atom that is truly established. Understand that they are like the sixteen examples of illusion, and then continue forward. Afterwards, do not dwell on the three—self, gods and demons, and the cutter—but rest freely in the state of the three emptinesses. By doing so, you will complete the accumulations, purify obscurations, repay karmic debts, release the attachment to the body, and thereby realize the very nature of mind. The practice for the second night is: First, when going to practice Chöd. It is necessary to have three things: a firm grasp of the introduction, increased wisdom through practice, and the ability to overcome happiness and suffering. First, become well-acquainted with the heart essence of the preliminary introduction. No matter what displays and obstacles arise tonight, they are the magical display of the unborn mind. Therefore, all phenomena encompassed by the six realms of samsara and nirvana are the magical display of the unborn mind. After arriving, the practice is: externally, cut off attachment to the gods and demons of the terrifying place; internally, cut off the conceptual thoughts that create fear; and in between, cut off the essence of fear. First is: observe where the gods and demons of the terrifying place initially come from? Where do they reside in the middle? Where do they ultimately go? Observe whether the shape of the gods and demons is square or round, etc.? Observe whether the color is white or red, etc.? The eyes look at the form of the gods and demons, the ears listen to the sound, and the nose smells the scent.

smell the scent. Speak words in the mouth. Grab the demon in the hand, see how it is. After observing in this way, it is not found, and it is placed in emptiness. Secondly, where does the conceptual thought of the fearer exist in the outer, inner, and secret three places, from the top of the head above to the soles of the feet below? The fearer's shape and color, etc., what are they like, look. If it is not found, it is placed in emptiness. In the middle, investigating the essence of fear is: what is the essence of what is called fear like? Place where is it? What is the shape and color like, look. After observing in this way, the object of fear is not found from the outside, the fearer is not found from the inside, and the essence of fear is not found in the middle. If it exists, it should be found. Because it does not exist, it is not found. Just rest comfortably in that state. The third practice of the West is: first, when going to Chöd, one must have vast views, have the experience of practice, and the behavior must be broad-minded, going in these three states. Among them, having vast views is: upwards, the body and wisdom of the Buddha are not truly established in the ultimate truth. Downwards, the lifespan and body of hell ༄༅། །Even the suffering of cold is not truly established in the ultimate truth, not even a particle exists, think like that. After arriving, the practice is: externally investigating the gods and demons of the object of fear, internally investigating the conceptual thought of the fearer, and in the middle investigating the essence of fear. Among these three, the first is: where did the gods and demons of the object of fear first come from? Where do they live in the middle? Where do they go in the end, look. What is the shape of the gods and demons, square or round, etc.? Look. What is the color, white or red, etc., look. The eyes look at the image of the gods and demons. The ears listen to the sound. The nose smells the scent. Speak words in the mouth. Grab the demon in the hand, see how it is. After observing in this way, it is not found, and it is placed in emptiness.
