That will become meaningless. Having said that, the son asked: Mother, non-human wisdom dakini, if faith and diligence are complete, how much merit will be produced? The mother replied: Faith is like fertile land, diligence is like cultivation, if you do this, you will quickly attain unsurpassed Bodhi, the human body will become meaningful, you will be kind to yourself, and you will complete the permanent cultivation. Having said that, it is important to value faith and diligence. Therefore, there are four reasons for generating faith: relying on a virtuous spiritual friend, associating with good friends who have faith, contemplating death and fearing the faults of cause and effect and samsara, and reading the sutras. Without faith, even if the Dharma and the guru are good, they are useless. Understanding fragments of the Dharma, and being with the guru, demons will also take advantage of the opportunity. Just like water and a stone in water, even if they stay together for countless years, the stone itself remains dry. Without faith, even if you obtain a lot of Dharma, and rely on hundreds of thousands of gurus, you will not be able to suppress afflictions. The number of times you rely on a guru and the number of times you listen to the Dharma will all become accomplices in fueling the flames of affliction. Also, even if there is faith in the continuum, if it is controlled by distraction and laziness, wasting one's life in a state of faith, missing the opportunity to practice the Dharma. Therefore, diligence is the supreme companion of the five perfections. Therefore, faith and diligence must be inseparable. As one mother said: Small faith and diligence are like putting an owl in a cage, like good land being abandoned from cultivation, like putting something on a scale but forgetting to take it off. Although there is a cause, there is no condition. Great faith but living an ordinary life, will not become a saint, and will become meaningless. Second, the motivation is: listening to the Dharma is also in the hope of a happy and fulfilling life in this life, and in the next life only hoping to obtain the body of a god or human, as well as the Hearers and

It is not merely to attain one's own position, but for the sake of all sentient beings pervading the sky, I shall attain the precious state of the unsurpassed, all-knowing Buddha Bhagavan. Having attained it, I shall single-handedly place all sentient beings of the six realms in the state of nirvana, with no other aim. The third is in terms of conduct: holding flowers and jewels, etc., prostrating respectfully with the three doors, first going to a lower place, sitting upright. Recite the prayers to the Sage, Maitreya, etc., and offer the seven-branch mandala. Recite the verses of the turning of the wheel of Dharma, and until the Dharma session is over, like one abiding in the accomplishment of samadhi, do not make any movements, etc., but listen with five kinds of awareness: that one is afflicted by the disease of the five poisons, the awareness of a patient; that the lama has the means to cure it, the awareness of a doctor; that the Dharma is like the medicine of nectar, the awareness of medicine; that the Dharma-listening siblings are friends and attendants helping to care for the sick, the awareness of companions and nurses; that practicing the Dharma is nourishing the disease, thus possessing five kinds of awareness. Without disturbing the Dharma session, from the depths of one's heart, with great faith and respect, seeking the meaning like a thirsty person desiring water. If merely hearing is said to bring the fruits of happiness of gods and humans, then needless to say, practicing it will bring liberation and enlightenment. Finally, it is the practice to adorn the end with pure dedication and aspiration. The second is motivation: listening to the Dharma is also with the desire for perfect happiness and well-being in this life, and with the desire for merely the body of gods and humans in the next life, and not merely with the desire to attain the state of hearers and solitary realizers, but for the sake of all sentient beings pervading the sky, I shall attain the precious state of the unsurpassed, all-knowing Buddha Bhagavan. Having attained it, I shall single-handedly place all sentient beings of the six realms in the state of nirvana, with no other aim.
