Demons will be subdued. Whatever arises in the mind is a demon, grasping and grasper are the two grasps. Do not grasp the grasped, son of lineage! Do not stop the arising feeling, son of lineage! Do not fabricate body and mind, son of lineage! Do not enter into concepts, son of lineage! If you thus experience it, demons will be subdued. Whatever you like and are attached to, if it is not grasped by the objectless, then the other shore is meaningless, and you have entered the power of the demon. Thus, self is indeed a demon, if the self is peaceful, then the demon is also peaceful, if the self abides, then the demon also abides, if the self-nature is not established in the self, then the demon will not be established in the same way. By the nature of the rootless Dharma, if you subdue your own grasping, then all the demons will be subdued, and thus you will transcend samsara and nirvana. Joy and attachment are unborn and self-liberated. Do you understand this, son of lineage? Arrogant one, arrogant one, all inside and outside is self-arrogance. Gods and demons are also, that is also self-arrogance. When the boundary of the mind is cut off, it is the supreme Bodhi. Memory is not stopped, if it is said that everything is only mind, then arrogance cannot be held by Dharma. If the son of lineage understands this, then the demons will be subdued. Abiding in the state of fearlessness, abiding in the state of non-contention. Thus it is said. The treatise of Aryadeva, the treatise of the Holy One, the "Collection of Instructions," chapters, and so on, have spoken of many classifications of demons that are inseparable from abandoning and befriending, but there is nothing that is not included in this root. Also, according to the "Young Boy Tantra," there are sixteen demons of outer, inner, secret, and path and ground, four each, and eighteen according to the "Essence Collection." The first is: The demon of the son of gods, the demon of afflictions, the demon of aggregates, the demon of death, these are the four outer demons. The first, the demon of the son of gods, is to generate attachment to what pleases the mind, to know that it is a demon and to cut off the bond. Attachment Prevent. Point out faults. Liberation is achieved by exposing it from the loophole. The demon of afflictions is to let the five poisons go naturally when they arise and follow them, therefore, cut it off forcefully, and in the state of unspeakable, unthinkable, and unutterable awareness, place it in a state of comfort, clarity, and strength, and you will be liberated. The demon of aggregates is when the five aggregates enter the five objects,

Therefore, following the arising sensations. Therefore, determine that appearances are illusions of the mind, determine that the mind is emptiness, determine that emptiness is non-dual, and by placing awareness in the empty, clear, awake, bright, and powerful state, one is liberated. The demon of the Lord of Death is the fear of birth and death because the mind has not realized the unborn. Therefore, determine that all phenomena of appearance and sound are unborn, and firmly abide in immortality. Furthermore, according to the "Short Tantra," the outer, inner, secret, and ground-path demons are sixteen in number, four each, and eighteen according to the "Essence Collection." First: The demon of the gods, afflictions, aggregates, and the Lord of Death are the four outer demons. First, the demon of the gods is attachment and clinging to what one likes. Know that this is the demon and cut off attachment. Reversing, pointing out faults, and expelling from the hiding place, one is liberated. The demon of afflictions is when the five poisons arise, letting them go naturally and following them. Therefore, forcibly cut them off and, in the state of unspeakable, unthinkable awareness, abide in joy, clarity, and power, one is liberated. The demon of the aggregates is when the five aggregates enter the five objects and follow the arising sensations. The four inner demons are: Attachment to loving friends and hatred towards enemies, hope in gods and fear of ghosts, attachment and clinging to one's own body and possessions, and being bound by good thoughts, preventing the arising of excellent qualities. Etc. Therefore, know that the mind of duality, such as enemies and friends, gods and ghosts, is the demon. One should understand the equality of all phenomena and place awareness in a vast and expansive state. Regarding body and possessions, being overly attached, clinging to permanence, clinging to self-importance, clinging to goodness, and arrogance thinking "I," etc., know that these are all demons. As before, place awareness in a vast and expansive state. The four secret demons are: Obstructed, unobstructed, desire, aversion, pride. Obstructed objects.
