, to mature one's own continuum with bodhicitta, it is necessary to have the experience of realizing the meaning of Mahamudra, Dzogchen, and Madhyamaka as one. Merely hearing about it is like hearing a description of brown sugar without ever seeing it. Thinking about it is like seeing it but never tasting it. Meditation is like tasting it and understanding the reason for its sweetness. Therefore, it is especially important to have meditation experience. The holy one said, "Those who have dispelled doubts about dualistic grasping are liberated by the words of the Kagyu lamas. Likewise, practice according to the words of the lamas." Also, it says in the same place, "Although names and terms are beyond thought, by the boat of the lama, the thirst for awakening faith and respect is moistened with the nectar of blessings and instructions." And in the Sutra of the Precious Treasury, it says, "If you wish to realize the meaning of the Prajnaparamita, you should realize it from the immaculate teachings of the Tathagata and from the precious instructions of the noble and virtuous spiritual friends who rely on them." Thus it is said. The way to seek Dharma and a guru is like the great bodhisattva Norzang seeking the Victorious Maitreya and the precious bodhicitta from the south to the south. Naropa, Marpa from Naropa, Milarepa from Marpa. Like Sadāprarudita seeking the Dharma. Regarding the excellent Dharma, the sutra says, "O monks or wise ones, like gold that is burned, cut, and polished, examine my words thoroughly and then accept them, not out of respect for me." Also, in the Lankavatara Sutra, it says, "Rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on the definitive meaning, not on the provisional meaning; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness; rely on the Dharma, not on the person." Also, in the Nirvana Sutra, it says, "I strive diligently for bodhi, and I also cause others to strive diligently for bodhi. This is called a noble and virtuous spiritual friend." Thus it is said. One's own conditions, the conditions of others, and the conditions of the sutras, the three should come together.

Like searching for a great teacher. Nāro. Marpa from Nāro. Mīla from Marpa. Like Tagtu Ngu searching for the sacred Dharma. Also, regarding the sacred Dharma, the Sutra says: "Monks or wise ones, like gold that is burned, cut, and polished, after thoroughly examining my words, accept them, not merely out of respect." Also, the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra says: "Rely on the meaning, not on the words; rely on the definitive meaning Sūtras, not on the provisional meaning Sūtras; rely on wisdom, not on consciousness; rely on the Dharma nature, not on the individual." Also, the Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: "By diligently striving for enlightenment oneself, and also causing others to diligently strive for enlightenment, that is called an excellent spiritual friend." Therefore, the self-condition, other-condition, and Sutra-condition, the three must be complete. Secondly, in the post-meditation state, understand it like an illusion. It is said: "Understand it like the example of an illusion." Its meaning is, in the Samādhirāja Sūtra, it says: "Just like a mirage, a city of gandharvas, like an illusion, like a dream, the marks that are meditated upon are empty of inherent nature. Understand all dharmas in that way. Just as the moon rises in the clear sky, its reflection appears in the clear lake, the moon does not move into the water, understand the nature of all dharmas in that way. Just as people sit in the forest mountains, singing, speaking, laughing, and crying, even though echoes are heard, there is no appearance, understand all dharmas in that way. Singing and music, as well as crying, although echoes arise dependent on them, there is never any melody in the sound, understand all dharmas in that way. Just as in a dream one indulges in desires, but when one awakens, one does not see them, children are very attached and cling to desires, understand all dharmas in that way.
