It's like arising spontaneously. So, what should one do if conceptual thoughts arise? Just leave it as it is, and it will vanish on its own. Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas believe that thoughts and concepts should be abandoned. Cittamatrins believe that they should be refuted. Prajnaparamita practitioners believe that they should be destroyed. Tantrikas believe that they should be transformed. Madhyamikas believe that their essence is emptiness. Mahamudra practitioners believe that appearances should be taken as the path. Dzogchen practitioners believe in primordial liberation. If all of these are not mastered by a guru who has realized the true nature, then all will have the fault of dualistic clinging. Chöd practitioners do not intentionally abandon good or bad thoughts, do not prevent, do not destroy, do not transform, do not empty, do not cultivate, but leave them in a state where primordial liberation is not established. The term "leaving" is just a figure of speech. There is neither leaving nor not leaving. In the profound meaning, it is said that recognizing one's own nature is the most supreme of all abandoning and transforming. As it is said: Ultimate truth is not the object of the mind. The mind is considered to be conventional truth. Therefore. So, what should one think? Chöd Mahamudra does not meditate on emptiness, nor does it meditate on non-conceptuality. It does not meditate on any support such as good thoughts. It does not abandon anything such as bad conceptual thoughts, nor does it pay attention to them. Even thinking of abandoning dualistic clinging is dualistic clinging. So, does it abide in emptiness itself? Does non-conceptuality abide? Do qualities arise? Do faults arise? Does it abide? Does it move? Do the five senses function? Do they not function? Whatever it does, let it do. If one is free from dualistic clinging, there is no way to prevent wisdom from arising spontaneously. It's like when the clouds clear, the sun arises spontaneously.

Where do I place it? "Place" Is also a superfluous word. There is neither placing nor not placing. In the profound meaning, it is said that knowing the nature is the best of abandoning and transforming everything. In particular, if one only takes the non-conceptual mind as the path and only cultivates Conventional virtue, then one goes astray into the realm of the four extremes. If one abandons virtue, one goes astray into the animal realm. That is cultivating the alaya. If one cultivates the five senses, clear and unadulterated, as the path, then one goes astray into the form realm. That is cultivating the consciousness of the alaya, or cultivating the conventional mind. If one takes the six aggregates as the object and cultivates spontaneous liberation as the path, then one goes astray into the desire realm. That is cultivating the consciousness of the five senses. Aryadeva said, "Inner and outer gods, demons, retinue, and the deceased, appearances and emptiness, etc., the absence of dualistic appearance is the Buddha's, unerring and unaltered intention." I do not speak of anything else. Showing the means to make wisdom manifest, again, Aryadeva said, "However, without relying on means, wisdom will not manifest. Just as without prior plowing, crops will not arise." It is necessary to perfect the roots of virtue from generosity to meditation. The Compendium says, "As long as the roots of virtue are not perfected, one will not attain the supreme emptiness." It is said. Moreover, among all the roots of virtue, there is none greater than the two bodhicitta minds, so they must be cultivated in union. Saraha said, "Whoever enters emptiness without compassion, does not find the supreme path." In particular, if one only takes the non-conceptual mind as the path and only cultivates Conventional virtue, then one goes astray into the realm of the four extremes. If one abandons virtue, one goes astray into the animal realm. That is cultivating the alaya.
