The best of meditation is non-meditation. When one's own mind is seen by oneself, where are objects and signs seen? Not seeing is the best of seeing. Thus it is said. In the Sutra Requested by the Mother Without Self, it is said: It is neither long nor short, neither round nor square, neither subtle nor coarse, this is the nature of the Bodhicitta. Thus, it refers to the ultimate Bodhicitta. In the Koushika Sutra, it is said: There is no cessation and no arising, no cutting off and no permanence, neither different nor the same, no coming and no going. Thus it is said. Arya Deva says: If one understands the meaning of the emptiness of all phenomena, then the signs or results in the external environment, in the realm of the five senses, form and sound, smell, taste, touch, etc., without exception, are all clearly manifest in emptiness. Thus it is said that the external and internal environments are the same. In the inner realm, even when coarse afflictions and subtle grasping arise, the two grasps do not exist, self-liberated, beyond calculation. Thus it is said. In the Collection of Teachings, it is said: Form is empty by its own nature of form. Do not be attached to form, do not meditate on emptiness. Thus it is said. In the Heart Sutra, it is said: The five aggregates are also empty by their own nature, thus truly observe them accordingly. Thus it is said, that which cannot be pointed out is the most supreme. Thus it is said. Furthermore, are the natures of the three poisons truly established? If you think I have not realized it, it is not so. In the Chapter on Light Protection in the Jewel Heap Sutra, it is said: Thus, one should thoroughly search for the mind. What are the phenomena that arise from attachment, arise from hatred, and arise from ignorance? Are they past, future, or arising now? Among them, the past mind is exhausted, the future mind ༄༅། །has not yet arrived, and the present mind has no abiding place. Light Protector, this mind is neither inside, nor outside, nor in both, and cannot be seen. Thus it is said. It is also said in the Tantra: The best of meditation is non-meditation. In the Koushika Sutra, it is said: There is no cessation and no arising.
