L. The liberation of mind from the grasp of reality and the determination of all phenomena as being without inherent existence are simultaneous. If you want to generate in your continuum the samadhi that cuts off the object of focus and is without characteristics, then sever the mind that follows after objects. The six consciousnesses not scattering to objects and awareness abiding in its own place are simultaneous. If you want to accomplish through experience in the continuum of a person the samadhi that is free from desire and without aspiration, then sever the mind that seeks to accomplish things. Having no expectation for anything and awareness being free from dependence are simultaneous. Thus, the ordinary mind, the awareness of action, is introduced as samadhi. As it is said in the Ornament of Precious Qualities: "Whatever clinging thoughts there are toward things being self-existent, are stains. Through the pacification of clinging to reality, all phenomena will be known to be without inherent existence. When the mind that follows after objects is severed, the six consciousnesses do not scatter, and awareness abides in its own place. This samadhi is a great spectacle." So it is said. Fifth, this is the teaching of what has become the supreme method. If the mind clings tightly, then determine this appearance to be an illusion. That is to say, the mind of attachment and aversion that arises spontaneously If you cling tightly to things, then know that this appearance is not true, and determine all phenomena to be an illusion. Thus, without the clarity of appearance ceasing, an awareness that is free from grasping will arise. When the mind that clings to things is liberated and the bonds of delusion are severed, please understand that this happens simultaneously. For a person on the path, this state of mind clinging tightly is a stain that is extremely difficult to remove. Some philosophical schools, having become excessive in their view and clinging to emptiness, the stain that arises from the expanse of reality loses the place of understanding of wisdom that is inseparable from skillful means. Some, having become complacent in meditation, if they cling to bliss and clarity, then it becomes an obstacle to the fruit of the path of liberation. Therefore, skillful means that are inseparable from wisdom cannot be attained. Some philosophical schools, having become indulgent in their conduct, if they mainly rely on antidotes, if they do not know how to remove the stain of clinging to what is supreme, then even the eighth bhumi will be subject to cyclic existence, because the mind of clinging to what is cherished becomes the cause of bondage. If you become excessive in your view, then know that this appearance of clinging to sides is unceasing, although it appears as various phenomena, it is not established as any true entity.

Determine it as an illusion. Therefore, understanding that appearances arise as various illusions liberates one from clinging to emptiness. When experiencing the appearances of bliss, clarity, and sensation during meditation, know that they are mind-made and determine them as illusions. Therefore, understanding that there is no true nature in illusions, the mind that clings to the delight and aversion of sensations ceases. Because there is no impediment to knowing when there is no attachment, it will not become a bondage. In conduct, if the appearance of guarding antidotes arises, know that it is conceptual thought and determine it as an illusion. Therefore, understanding that illusions have no self-nature, the stain of clinging to the supreme will not accumulate. Therefore, one recognizes that appearance and emptiness arise simultaneously. As the Vajra Song says: Profound appearance is emptiness itself, cutting off the object, there is no sign, without desire, without hope, the samadhi is accomplished by experience, all dharmas are without self-nature, the nature of things arises from interdependence, the six consciousnesses do not follow objects, awareness seizes its own ground, original, eyeless, great hand seal. This is the recognition of the first flaw in meaning. As the Vajra Song says: Sounds are various and without cessation, eliminating the stain of clinging to emptiness, in illusion there is no true self-nature, eliminating the stain of clinging to sensations, in the state of illusion without self-nature, eliminating the stain of clinging, all dharmas are not apart from illusion, nowhere is anything established. This is the sixth, explaining the uncommon means. If you want happiness in the next life, wash the source of the present appearance. This means that if a practitioner, a person of faith, wants to be free from the suffering of samsara and attain happiness in the next life, because the nature of samsara is suffering, by looking at the source that generates suffering, one discovers that the present appearance is not truly existent, yet one clings to it as if it were. Therefore, it becomes an inverted conceptual thought. From this, afflictions arise, from this, karma is accumulated and thrown into samsara, ultimately completing it. This is the ordinary consciousness of the first moment. Then, through the method of transforming the mind through tenets, one determines that the nature of things is emptiness and without self-nature, washing the source of its own being that is not established anywhere, therefore, it appears in various ways, but has no self-nature.
