There is no greater loss, because one cannot obtain such a thing later. As it says in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: "This leisure is extremely difficult to find. Now that you have obtained the means to accomplish the purpose, if you do not accomplish benefit in this life, how will you ever obtain this leisure again in the future?" Now that the Buddha's teachings, like the rising sun, are manifest, it is the opportune time to practice Dharma. Do not let this opportunity slip by. Do not waste this leisure. The time is now. Now, having entered the gate of Dharma, all unaccomplished practices are the worst of the worst, and the karmic consequences are immense. To this extent, the measure of actions cannot be grasped. Please understand that this is worse than a captain returning empty-handed from the Isle of Jewels. If a man does not practice Dharma, he is a bad man. There is no need to be born as a warrior, because a warrior only accumulates greater sins. If a woman does not practice Dharma, she is a bad woman. There is no need to be born as a virtuous woman, because a virtuous woman only accumulates greater sins. If you can accomplish Dharma, even going to a place of ridicule and mockery is acceptable. Even if you do not meet people's expectations a hundred times, it does not matter. If you cannot accomplish the sacred Dharma now, even if you possess power, wealth, and glory in this life, even if your power reaches its peak, please understand that you have lost the purpose of obtaining a human body. Aro's exhortation says: "A captain returning empty-handed from the Isle of Jewels is still tolerable, but a human body without Dharma is not like that. After death, one is born into the lower realms, and a universal monarch is not better than that." A leperous old man and a blind man who obtain a good rebirth in the future are more excellent. The presence or absence of the sacred Dharma is more excellent than Mount Meru compared to a dust particle. Fourth, this explains aging and the decline of practice. If you do not practice when you are young, decline will occur when you are old. For a person who desires the path of liberation, the one who sees the means of asceticism as a scale, it is necessary to be able to endure heat and cold with the body, to endure hunger and thirst with the speech, and to endure pleasure and pain with the mind. If it is not in youth, one cannot endure these three when old. In youth, the mind is strong, so anything can be accomplished, but when old, one becomes lazy, so nothing can be done. Just as age gradually fades away, so too does merit diminish, which is the nature of things. Now is the time to practice Dharma.

Having entered, all those who have not accomplished practice are the worst of the worst, and the extent of evil is also great. Just this much, the words of action cannot be grasped. Please understand that this is even worse than a captain returning from the Isle of Jewels. If a man does not accomplish the Dharma, he is a bad man. There is no need to be born strong, because the strong will only accumulate more sins. If a woman does not accomplish the Dharma, she is a bad woman. There is no need to be born wise, because the wise will only accumulate great sins. If you can accomplish the Dharma yourself, you can go even to a place of ridicule. Even if others do not reach you a hundred times, it does not matter. If you are not going to accomplish the sacred Dharma this time, even if you have power, wealth, and glory in this life, even if your power reaches its peak, understand that the purpose of obtaining a human body has been lost. In Aro's exhortation to virtue, it says: A captain returning empty-handed from the Isle of Jewels is still happy, but a human body without Dharma is not like that. A universal monarch who is born into the lower realms after death, is inferior to an old leper and a blind man who will attain a good rebirth in the next life. The difference between Mount Meru and a dust particle is surpassed by the difference between having and not having the sacred Dharma. Fourth, this is the explanation of aging and the decline of practice. If you do not practice when you are young, then the decline that occurs when you are old is what is meant. For a person who desires the path of liberation, a practitioner who looks at the scale of asceticism needs to be able to endure heat and cold with the body, endure hunger and thirst with the mouth, and endure happiness and suffering with the mind. If it is not in youth, then one cannot endure these three when old. When young, there is mental strength, so anything can be accomplished, but when old, one becomes lazy, so nothing can be done. Just as age gradually disappears, it is natural for merit to decrease. When practicing, if you do not do it when the body is strong and the mind is brave, then with that old body, no matter how you train the body, the key points of the body will not tighten. If it does not tighten, the breath will not tighten. If it does not tighten, happiness will not tighten. Because the strength of these three is weak, the mind will not tighten. When the experience of realization arises, looking at the scale of practice when old, the power of the decline that occurs externally will diminish the clear radiance within. When the radiance diminishes,
