Even if going together, they want to gnaw, If they eat together due to attachment, By the power of aspiration, they will surely be gathered, With a mind of happiness, they are connected, Abandoning anger and disputes, One should associate with genuine love. Thus it is said. Fifth, it is appropriate to avoid stinginess. To people from the same hometown in a distant land, With a feeling of compassion, family members should not quarrel, For example, for people from Nepal and other places, who speak different languages and have gone to distant lands, Even if they did not know each other before, they are happy to meet just because they are from the same hometown, They treat others like landlords kindly, treating them as outsiders, They smile at people from the same hometown and pour out their hearts. Words say. To this, with a feeling of compassion arising, sharing happiness in happiness and suffering in suffering, family members should not quarrel, why not live in harmony? Because there is no closer relative than a companion of the body, Therefore, one should not quarrel. Gathered by aspiration, one should not quarrel because of karmic connections. Because there is nothing more painful than suffering oneself and losing friends, Therefore, one should not quarrel. Even if they quarrel, karma will not ripen immediately. One should not quarrel inwardly, let alone quarrel loudly, because it is said in the twenty reasons for love: poisonous snakes and crows, And gathered mangoes and other fruits, even if going together, they want to gnaw, If they eat together due to attachment, by the power of aspiration, they will surely be gathered, With a mind of happiness, they are connected, abandoning anger and disputes, One should associate with genuine love. Thus it is said. Sixth, it is appropriate to repay kindness. Just as one gives rewards to the escort who escorts in the morning, one should offer whatever one has to the lama who liberates us from samsara to nirvana, As it is said: We are afraid to go to dangerous places full of enemy threats, but we are not afraid to go to the prison of samsara from which there is no escape. Like a fearful journey, the person who escorts and rescues in the morning, with a grateful heart, gives rewards to the escort, if this is compared to the painful place of the three realms of samsara, it is like a station on a warm road, Liberated from samsara where there is not a moment of happiness in countless eons, reaching the peace of nirvana.

It is not right to regard the lama who ferries one to the other shore as someone without kindness. In terms of kindness, even if one were to give more lives than the dust particles of Mount Meru, it would not be enough to repay. Regarding the act of considering the offering of fleeting and meaningless trivial objects as a true offering, due to the power of being bound by stinginess towards material possessions, even if it were necessary to measure the value of the lama's realization and blessings in order to purchase them, the ability to be generous towards the lama is rare. Generally, merit that is not given away will not transform into the opening of one's own realization, and serving the lama in no way, even if the merit is great, will not benefit others, so say those with discerning eyes. Sixth, the reason for repaying the refuge is as follows: One is willing to give a reward to the ferryman who escorts one in the morning, but is unwilling to offer anything to the lama who ferries one from samsara to nirvana. Regarding this, they said: We are afraid to walk on a dangerous path where enemies may appear, but we are not afraid to walk in the prison of samsara from which there is no escape. Because of fear, one feels indebted to the person who escorts one for a short distance in the morning, just like giving a reward to a ferryman. If we apply this analogy, the suffering of the three realms of samsara is like a post station on the way to a warm road, from which there is no moment of happiness in countless eons. The lama who liberates us from this and ferries us to the peaceful place of nirvana is not considered a benefactor. Therefore, one should give to the lama. In the Twenty Reasonings of Loving Observation, it says: Like the loud sound of an elephant's roar, With all the voices of praise, The excellent nectar of essence, If offered with a loving heart, All beings, through the kindness of the lama, Gather together.
