Can one achieve the supreme meaning without abandoning inferior actions? Thus it is said. Therefore, the eighteenth chapter, which explains that the supreme cannot be achieved without abandoning inferior actions, is finished. Now, this is the nineteenth chapter, which explains how to give away enlightenment for trivial matters. The holy one said: Some people act as if they will not die. When the Lord of Death (Tibetan: འཆི་བདག) appears, there is no time to stay in life. Beneficial means are exhausted. At the moment of separation of body and consciousness, they don't even think of staying for a moment, which is a pity. Even though they know they are going to die, they still cannot cut off attachment. They speak meaningless words. Even taking refuge is just imitating others at that time. The precipice of samsara is remembered at that time. They lament, "Who will I go with?" Many regrets arise at that time. It is said that this is like wiping away something useless. Is there any benefit to taking refuge at that time? He replied: That kind of benefit cannot cut off the root. If you remember that kind of suffering now, there will be opportunities to do good deeds or something like that. If we explain it in this way, then the antidote to cutting off the root can be determined as nine aspects. First, because one does not understand the nature of conditioned phenomena, one feels ashamed of clinging to this life as permanent. Second, life is impermanent, and there are obstacles even in favorable circumstances. Third, it is explained that even the noble ones cannot prevent diseases that exhaust life. Fourth, one feels ashamed of not being able to cut off attachment to perceived objects. Fifth, important things are not remembered even at the end, so they are delayed. Sixth, one understands the faults of samsara. Seventh, because wrong regrets arise, they will not be empty. Eighth, there is no free time to ripen and accumulate virtuous deeds. Ninth, it is explained that one should rely on the wisdom of the last moment to practice Dharma. In short, this is giving away enlightenment for trivial matters. The holy one said: Some people act as if they will not die. This means that in general, there are many people who do not remember death. In particular, it is said that this was said to Je Tripa. Some people do not understand that conditioned phenomena are impermanent, and do not remember the Dharma of death. They only care about the arrangements of this life, and act as if they will not die. They do not diminish the flames of hatred towards enemies, they do not loosen the attachment of cherishing relatives, and they are attached to wealth.

Not separating from the attachment of compassion, not stopping the mind of attachment to friends, not giving rise to the thought of the body's destruction, these are the five actions. Because it is not certain that enemies will become friends, it is not certain that wealth will become waste, it is not certain that friends will become enemies. The flames of hatred, the clinging of cherishing, the attachment of compassion, the mind of attachment do not exist, because the nature of things is empty, so one must understand that there is no self-nature. In the Hundred Thousand Verses, it says: Form has no self-nature, that is an unspeakable sound. Second, it shows that life has no leisure and death is at hand. Once the lord of death arrives, life stops. Homage! The so-called no leisure is like giving a warning to a fish. The lord of death is waiting for the lives of sentient beings. Just like a lamp running out of oil, when the factors that increase life are exhausted, once death arrives, the connection of life will be broken. Therefore, it cannot be stopped by force, cannot be recovered by wealth, cannot be changed by schemes. In any case, it is useless and one must leave. Life has no leisure, at the moment when breaths alternate, all the mountains have turned into butter, all the water has turned into tea and wine, even if the four continents are under your rule, you must put all this down. A person who has not accomplished the Dharma can only leave with the burden of sin, and can only go to the evil realms of suffering in samsara. Third, it shows that even the noble ones cannot prevent diseases that exhaust life. Beneficial methods are exhausted, the body and consciousness separate, do not think that you can stay a little longer, this is great greed. It means that birth will eventually lead to death. Once the karma of sentient beings is exhausted, even the power of a thousand Buddhas cannot stop it, this is the law of nature. The disease of death cannot be prevented by divination, Bon, medicine, and other interdependent methods, so it is said that beneficial methods have been exhausted and have no effect. The wind of the physical body obtained from the mother exists in the blood vessels; the wind of life obtained from the father exists in the life force. The wind that maintains the two, at the end of life, the power of earth, water, fire, and wind merge with each other, and the wind that maintains returns to its original position. At this time, the winds of body and consciousness separate, and the wind of propulsion pushes the white and red bindus, pushing them to the upper and lower doors.
