It is said that it will appear. When asked, what is the need to guide the practice with long or short sessions? Answer: By focusing on the practice session, one will not fall into the extremes of dullness and agitation. By taking it in segments, the meditation will not be disturbed by practice problems, and the effect of abiding will be better. Do not practice for a short time all at once, Alternately lengthen the practice time, so that the consciousness can rest, and the efficiency of abiding can be improved, and the subsequent abilities will be rapidly improved. Samatha and vipassana are like training a bird to fly. Alternating between long and short sessions is what it means. It is also said that when understanding the way of looking at things, it should also be understood as alternating between tranquility and fierceness. When asked, what is the key to not falling into an ordinary state? Answer: If thoughts unrelated to the Dharma do not arise in the mind, then erroneous cognitions can be cut off. If aspirations are not placed on the things of this life, then the bonds of attachment and hatred can be freed. If the clinging to external objects is abandoned here, then the delusion can be eliminated. object. If the clinging to consciousness is cut off, then the dualistic consciousness can return to its original position. Please determine that samsara is a rootless name and let it go. Do not generate the thought of wanting to become a Buddha! It is said that once the thought of desire is abandoned, ordinary consciousness will become pure. When asked, even if the root is recognized, if one does not want to abide, what is the reason for this? Answer: This is because the obstacle of duality has not been removed. Here one must be free from the discrimination of good and bad. Cut off the clinging to external objects. If it is not cut off, then the post-meditation state cannot be recognized. Please determine that form and emptiness are non-dual. If this cannot be determined, co-emergence will not arise in the continuum. Please separate the thoughts of acceptance and rejection into illusory and unreal, like mixing water, and let it go. Do not disobey the power of non-attachment to the mind. When asked, what is the fault of looking at letters during the yoga of the cause? Answer: Because one has not separated from terminology, one cannot see the unspeakable. Because the mind is occupied by letters, one does not understand the meaning of the nameless. Because one does not understand symbols, phenomena will not appear in books. Because one chases after nominal letters, observation and reflection will not penetrate the heart. Therefore, the key points will not be revealed through external objects. Therefore, because the mind is taken away by names, one cannot see the root of one's own nature. There is a fault in giving to letters. Gyaton (person's name) is the leader, praying for offerings to the body protector.

It is said that the path between the fundamental Dharma does not exist. It was also said that until the cause reaches its end, the path cannot be determined as Dharma nature. Before mind training becomes a habit, there will be great faults in looking at the text. Firstly, expressing meaning with words will omit the meaning. Secondly, the mind will be taken away by the words, and it will not be possible to truly recognize. Thirdly, the book will be regarded as something containing special meaning, thus losing familiarity with the root. Fourthly, the meaning will be submerged in the words, and the root will not be able to abide, so please throw away those useless things and study the text more. It was also said that the tradition of our oral instructions is a completely unknown practice lineage, which is the oral instruction of the eighth-ground Bodhisattva master, so do not pay too much attention to the text, but have firm faith in the words of the master. Generally speaking, if you do not have firm faith in the oral teachings of the master, then all the texts will become empty, because they are separated from meaning. Words cannot convey meaning. Here, when the morning of liberation of one's own mind through blessing arrives, the appearance of the objects of the six senses will become a condition for triggering realization, and the appearance will appear like a book, and such a moment will come quickly. Geshe Gyadrak Sö said, because I am impatient, I need blessings to appear like leaves, one by one. To this, he laughed for a long time and said, this realization of appearance is combined with the essence of definite understanding, so eliminate the defilement of doubt. This blessing is combined with the essence of faith, so generate longing with reverence. This root is combined with the essence of non-distraction, so do not let consciousness chase after external objects. The appearance appearing like a book is also a sign, and pure higher intention is needed. Again, on one occasion, Geshe Gumi Pa said, the fundamental points of profound meaning are openly displayed in all the collections of scriptures, the eyes can see them, the ears can hear them, and one's own mouth often speaks them. What is said here refers to what should have been recognized before. The master said, the three parts of the Sutra, extensive, medium, and concise, are the collection of recognition, and the only key point of the oral instructions. If there are no oral instructions from the lineage, then one can only keep secrets to oneself.
