My words, this is the essence of the key instruction itself. You are right, these Geshes are not true practitioners, like empty shells without a core. Sooner or later, they will turn from the position of Geshe into an ordinary corpse. Only the habit of practicing Dharma remains in the continuum, unable to distinguish between samsara and nirvana. Although pretending to be practitioners, in reality they have become images. If you don't understand the image, then what appears in the sky is the real moon, and what appears in the ocean is not that moon, but an image. A practitioner who is not an image, like the real moon, that is a yogi. He takes the three doors of body, speech, and mind out of the millstone of asceticism and releases them, so that the mind can endure happiness and suffering. Because the mind can endure happiness and suffering, it will understand what is useless no matter what. Because one understands what is useless, the mind of desire will not arise. If one is separated from the mind of desire, then there will be no attachment to the apprehended and the apprehender. If one is not attached to the apprehended and the apprehender, then one will not accumulate karma. If one does not accumulate karma, then how can samsara arise? If one is not born in samsara, then whether or not you become a Buddha is the same to you. The so-called yogi, is someone who is accompanied by useless thoughts. It is also written in the will: The mirror of desire, whether it is pure or not is obvious. Be accompanied by the thought of non-action, Dingriba! It is said. A person who cannot destroy deeply rooted habits cannot be liberated from the shackles of samsara. In general, the cause of generating samsara can be understood even without hearing the Dharma. It is said. Oṃ svasti (藏文,梵文天城体,svasti, auspiciousness). In Dingri (now belonging to Shigatse City), I heard a funny thing. Jöse asked: What did the master hear? Lhazo Magom said: If you can keep your hands on the scriptures, then you don't need to rely on a master, the Buddha's intention is there. It is better to make tsampa tea yourself than to do difficult service, he said. You have committed a sin! For old people who have not heard the Dharma, this is how disease arises. Without meeting a supreme spiritual friend, who can find the path to liberation? Without mastering the master's key instructions, where can one understand the meaning of the scriptures? So-called reading scriptures requires being very familiar with treatises. I also do not understand the supreme meaning beyond common actions. So, the offering place Gachung read many scriptures, but compared to the Buddha's intention, he himself does not understand the Buddha's actions at all.

Therefore, these are revealing the faults of samsara! Not understanding that these are revealing the results of karma, one needs someone with the eye of Dharma. Without the guru's instructions, reading the sutras and tantras will only cause headaches. What is the reason for that? Because one has not grasped the key points. First, one must rely on a lineage guru, and only when the root is planted in the lineage can one cut through the subtleties. The yogi who integrates view, practice, and conduct, can understand the meaning and shortcomings when reading books. Just like watching a shadow play, one can understand that this is wrong and that is wrong. Moreover, external appearances can also become instructions, and any appearance can be transformed into instructions. Guru Dingriwa said that by understanding one word, one can be liberated without bias. Cutting one knot is equivalent to cutting a hundred knots. What does it mean to extract the essence of the three baskets? It refers to penetrating the depths of the two truths. When the ultimate truth is exhausted, the relative truth is exhausted, the meaning is exhausted, and the words are exhausted, this is what is called cutting off the life force of the four tantras, which arises from understanding the fundamental shortcomings. This is also written in the will: How does a yogi attain realization internally? May the instructions appear externally, so said Dingriwa. The key flaws, before the guru points them out, the books will not point them out. If that were the case, then the reader would need to be liberated, but there is not even one in Tibet and China, so it is said. Om Swasti! (Tibetan: ཨཱོྃ་སྭསྟི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओṃ स्वस्ति, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svasti, Chinese literal meaning: Om, auspicious!) Please tell me, among the virtuous deeds of body and speech, which accumulation of merit is the greatest? The answer is: Within five steps, in the actions of the body, prostrating to the guru accumulates the greatest merit. Speaking three words from the mouth, praising the guru, is the greatest merit. There is no greater merit than serving the guru. Surpassing the offering of millions of deities, a massage of one pore of the guru's hair is even more sublime in merit. When the guru is happy in the morning, the yidam and dakini will also be happy at that time. Looking at the guru's face for a moment, the amount of merit obtained cannot be measured. Even in millions of kalpas, hearing the Buddha's name is extremely rare, let alone being able to cut off all doubts and see the holy one? So it is said. Smachungwa said: Even so, the guru is just a small hill.
