It happened that someone said, 'If you kill, you will be taken away by the enemy god.' A young girl said, 'The old beggar did not accumulate merit in the past, so he has become old and decrepit and has to be abandoned. Why not offer this to the special lama now? This is because of the power of not accumulating merit. I will give you something better than this right now. Offer this to the lama, and you will take my place.' So the beggar hobbled away and left a pile of ashes. The girl laughed loudly and asked what the lama was doing, as there was a pile of ashes there. The lama said, 'You are unwilling to give, but you let him offer it himself.' The girl said, 'Offer it to the beggar's foot washing water.' So it was offered. The lama filled the house with felt and did not need the ashes. The beggar, in order to accumulate merit, used the ashes as his own cushion. The lama compassionately said, 'Things are like that too!' Just like precious jewels, the more enemies, the more precious. The lama's Bodhisattva Dharma has no greater obstacle than this, so be careful. First, transform the support into Mahamudra. The path of mind training must be completed with the lama. The holy one said that a child is born from the mother's warmth. A child who is separated from the mother without food and clothing is not happy. Similarly, if there are no signs of the path and bones, one cannot be independent without the lama. Rather than doing a hundred practices away from the lama, it is more beneficial to do one day of virtuous deeds with the lama. Usually, after the lama passes away, the disciple cannot attain accomplishment. For a person to attain accomplishment, they must have three special interdependent connections: The support for accumulating merit is the lama, the support for attaining accomplishment is the Yidam (藏文:ཡི་དམ།,梵文天城體:इष्टदेवता,梵文羅馬擬音:iṣṭadevatā,漢語字面意思: इष्टदेवता), and the Dakini who removes obstacles. The lama compassionately said that these three must be combined. Usually, the initial practice, if not completed, then the initial mistake will only lead to later virtuous deeds. If one loses direction at the beginning, one will become fickle. This is what is meant by 'one finger of laziness, ten thousand zhang of sin.' Therefore, do not practice lazily. Conclusion. Initially, when training the mind, if one can be liberated from the four faults (bo zags ltem log bzhi), then there will be no obstacles to the intermediate practice of asceticism. If asceticism is completed and the signs of the path are bound to produce results, this is the nature of Dharma.

Indeed, the signs of the path are like flowers. When the practitioner focuses on the deity and the body and speech remain in the ordinary state, just as the faces of many Sugatas appear in a lotus, it is impossible for there not to be accomplishments. Merely hearing the wisdom of mind training will not generate interest in hearing and thinking. Once this is completed, contemplation will not arise in the continuum. The kind Lama said that this seems to be an unerring path to Buddhahood. Furthermore, the oral instruction of the Indian Jewel Lama is that, since its tenets and the way of practicing the path are slightly different from other schools, although eighty-four accomplished ones appeared after the Teacher's passing into Nirvana, this is a Dharma that they did not possess. This key point of liberating beings without relying on the three trainings is an untrodden path, uneaten food, unheard teachings, and a method of attaining Buddhahood without relying on practice and actions. The kind Lama said that this is a truly unerring oral instruction. When asked what is meant by "shortening the long path in a cyclical way," the answer was, "The path of accumulation, which accumulates merit over countless eons, is here given the name of being severed by the three paths of asceticism." When asked what is meant by "making the ground and path complete all at once," the answer was, "We initially, at the time of mind training, obtained the meaning of the noble ones. Therefore, there is no need to progress upwards in sequence from the first bhumi, Joyful, to the Immaculate, according to the four, three, and twelve of the path of accumulation, and the four of the preparatory path's discernment. When we transform the basis into Mahamudra, although we do not truly obtain the ground and path, a similarity corresponding to that time is obtained at the time of mind training itself." The kind Lama said. When asked what similarities of the ground and path are obtained at the time of mind training, the answer was, "Visualizing the Lama on the crown of the head and reciting the essence mantra in the mouth, so that the body and speech are separated from ordinary conceptual thoughts, this is the path of accumulation. By the power of this ability, the continuum of beings is liberated in some way, this is the path of preparation. The continuum is liberated, and uncommon realization arises, this is the path of seeing. In all activities, not abandoning the diligent application of meaning, this itself is the path of meditation. Through this essence, the yogi does not regress to the ordinary, thereby reaching the ultimate.
