Look! In general, if you don't have renunciation from samsara, even if you stay by Shakyamuni Buddha like me, it's useless and doesn't help at all. This was said by the kind lama. Also, some people say, "Our lama doesn't have scriptures." How could a lama have scriptures? Listening to one extra word from a dry lama, they exhaust their father's estate. They only stayed in Dingri (定日县,约177公里) for three years, which is forty-four days away. Those with scriptures, stay in Smertir for a winter to seek Dharma. Those without scriptures, it takes fifteen years to accomplish the truth. Those with scriptures, practice meditation every summer and winter. Those without scriptures, they don't rely on more than ten lamas who have attained siddhis. Those with scriptures, praise the qualities of one lama. Those without scriptures, they don't have more than five disciples who have attained accomplishment. Those with scriptures, know where you are going. Those without scriptures, they only know one mule-load of instructions. Those with scriptures, see what they know. If all this is true, then it's useless for a human body to become someone with scriptures. If the scriptures only say one thing, then it's self-deception. If I do this, those with scriptures will think that they won't owe debts and won't be reborn in the future. This was said by the kind lama. So! Those who cannot accomplish practice every summer and winter, and those who say they want to request instructions, if they are really that good, the lama wouldn't be ashamed. What's the use of obtaining a body through meditation? What's the use of knowing Dharma? What's the use of requesting instructions from a lama? You shouldn't waste this human body in vain. Don't waste leisure and endowments. Don't let afflictions enter your mind. Don't foster negative karma. You should practice. Don't let your mind become ordinary. Taking off your hat during meditation, and when your hair turns white, even if you have free time, the situation is different. Show the wrinkles on your chest! Now it's too late to start practicing. What did you do when you were young? Did you learn any special qualities? Did you do any important tasks? Did you serve the lama? It's terrible to waste your life. This was said by the kind lama. In short, it's useless for clever people to have profound instructions. It seems that you must practice to generate experience in your mind. If you don't become an antidote to afflictions, it's useless to know a hundred books. A practitioner must be someone who has tamed their mind.

If you rely on a good lama, can't you hear the instructions? Signs of the path and rock-like Behaviors should be abandoned, and virtuous deeds should be diligently pursued. Some people prefer to gain fame for knowing many dharmas and being wise, rather than attaining perfect enlightenment. Dor Gom said: If you attain Buddhahood but are accused of not knowing the Dharma, it's like being struck by lightning. Is that what you really think? Think about it a little. In the Tsang dialect, it means "asking for trouble." Some teachers are pursuing fame instead of wanting liberation. Who is the teacher who is disgusted with worldly glory? I have never seen a teacher who abandoned lowly deeds. Few practitioners are not carried away by demons. The lama is so kind. In the past, there was a Sangha leader named Shangton in Dingri (present-day Dingri County, Rikaze Prefecture, Tibet). He said that these practitioners in Lato, rather than becoming Buddhas, prefer to have a human body. They say that humans are superior to animals. To this, Phya Chenpo laughed and said, "Child, you are right. Because these ordinary people cannot attain the state of a noble being, the power of bad habits has grown stronger and lasted for a long time, so they go astray and make bad friends. If you don't prepare for the next life, even a pandita is like an animal. They have even lost the need for things and Dharma. That is indeed true." The lama is so kind. Smart young people should experience hardship first, and see what a person without virtue can do. Serve powerful patrons, and work as a servant for Chuton. If that is their ancestral servant, then for the service of the lama, one should be like a body dancing, without being lazy. For work that is difficult to complete tomorrow, one should not interfere. One should rest leisurely on the cushion. For example, someone like Geshe Jhayulwa. For the lama, if one is unwilling to put in even a speck of dust-like effort, even if he is very knowledgeable, he will not be respected. Even when old, one must do things oneself. For example, a practitioner like Wangdor. For those who have given everything to the lama, great knowledge is not necessary. For example, someone like Lama Chartangpa. Those who have never served the lama, even if they are proficient in the five sciences, cannot become blessed. For example, Lhaje Zhon Seng, he doesn't know anything. That's how it is. You bad guy, you don't
