Giving is the greatest accumulation, it is said. When asked, "What is the difference between good and bad fields?" He replied, "Having no protector is the very best." When asked, "How much merit is there in making offerings to the Three Jewels?" He replied, "It is good. There is no power to actually enjoy small offerings. Even being close to a fraction of offering a mouthful of food to the Guru is greater than offering thousands of times to the gods, greater than the difference between Mount Meru and a sesame seed." Someone asked, "Even though the Kadampa lamas are present, do they still make offerings to the Three Jewels?" He replied, "That is a bad omen, the practice of the Kadampas is confused." Then asked, "Have they become special from the position of practitioners?" He replied, "In what way have they become special? Is it because they have not turned their minds away from desire, but are manifestly devoted to accumulation that they have become special? Without erasing even a sesame seed's worth of anger in their own minds, have they become special by boasting of being wise with the eloquence of patching up holes in the walls? Is it because they lack compassion and hate the disabled that they have become special? The Kadampas who make offerings, they hope for happiness. They do not know from where the accumulation of merit comes. More meritorious than making offerings and circumambulating Shakyamuni, who filled the three thousand worlds with jewels, is placing the worn-out shoes of the Guru on one's head. More meritorious than filling the three thousand worlds with stupas and reliquaries is writing and offering one copy of the scriptures. More meritorious than adorning a person with merit with a hundred gold coins is giving a mouthful of food to a person who has exhausted their merit." He also said, "The Kadampas have Dharma, but they have no people. If they truly had Dharma, then their attachment to worldly things would be a little less; look at their profits, fame, and savings. If they truly had Dharma, then they would know that wealth is unnecessary; look at their miserliness. They are skilled in business, but this business of knowing how to please the king is harmful to learning. If they truly had Dharma, then they would need to turn their minds away from desire; look at their accumulation of possessions. They speak of impermanence, but their behavior is as if death will never come." He also said, "These Kadampas are certainly without fortune, because Jowo Atisha's Doha is clearly stated, but they..."

I requested that this kind of Dharma not be spoken. To this, Jowo (the尊者) said that there is no Dharma more supreme than the meaning of the heart essence. They do not have the fortune of Mahamudra. If they see the union of the father and mother deities, they say that the Kadampa are fools. If they see the practice of lust, they say that the appearance symbolizing meaning is nonsense. Again, it is said that the Kadampa say that mantras are without defilement for those with afflictions. They also have the empowerment of mantras. All the old people are like this, indulging in corpse offerings. None of them have received empowerment. Just because the mantra path is maturation and liberation, they think they have perfected empowerment. Saying that desire is the cause of samsara, how can it be the path to liberation, they regard the mudra consort as a heretical Dharma. Saying from Om (唵,oṃ,ओम्,嗡) to Phat (फट्,phaṭ,帕特), they regard Mahamudra as an outsider, it is truly pitiful. I asked, after initially recognizing sentient beings, what else is needed? He replied: This is the key to the essential instructions, the weakness of bondage. Initially, when grasping the wind-mind, this is necessary. I asked, what are the three kinds of non-duality? He replied: By practicing in the realm of one's own awareness, after a period of time, one's own awareness will understand that it is emptiness, and that is awareness-emptiness non-duality. From this, selflessness arises. By practicing the power of awareness in bliss, after a period of time, the nature of bliss will appear, and that is bliss-emptiness non-duality, from which the thought of grasping will not arise. By practicing the power of awareness in appearance, after a period of time, the nature of appearance will appear as emptiness, and that is appearance-emptiness non-duality. From this, the consciousness of dualistic appearance is liberated. I asked, awareness-emptiness non-duality, with its nature of purity, why are there samsara and nirvana? He replied: Samsara is pure in its own nature, the Dharma nature of samsara is emptiness. Nirvana is pure in its own nature, the nature of nirvana is emptiness. Jowo said that nothing is established anywhere. I asked, if it is emptiness from the nature of truth, will there be no experience? He replied: When experiencing, it is emptiness. Appearance is also, when appearing, it is emptiness. I asked, what are the so-called three kinds of people? He replied: Those who abide in mind training are the initial people. Those who abide in asceticism are the people on the path. Those who abide in the result are the people who have received empowerment.
