Sayings and Instructions. If the pride of the mind is not cut off, it is a sign that realization will become a mere image. If the attachment to rocks is severed, foxes cannot catch marmots, it is said. If the clinging to appearances is not relinquished, it is a sign that meditation will become a mere image. If the thirst for water in a mirage is not quenched, one will not break through to the realm of desire, it is said. If the taste of pleasure and pain is not balanced, it is a sign that conduct has become a mere image. There is no need to prescribe medicine that does not benefit the illness, it is said. If activities do not become beneficial to others, it is a sign that the result will become a mere image. An ascetic who abandons samsara does not achieve nirvana, it is said. If it does not become an antidote to afflictions, it is a sign that experience is unnecessary. Food that does not satisfy the hunger of a deer inside a 'kro mo' is unnecessary, it is said. If one cannot reverse the deluded mind, it is a sign that an antidote is unnecessary. If one does not understand when acting as a hero, the cheese of a giant is for dogs, it is said. If one realizes after the main practice, the armor of preparation has become unnecessary, it is a sign. There is no need to associate with a captain who cannot obtain jewels, it is said. If the mind does not turn away from samsara, there is no need to stay in a hermitage, it is a sign. If the mind of a monkey is not calm, one cannot stay at will on hands and feet, it is said. If desire is not relinquished, there is no need to practice, it is a sign. What is the benefit of a turtle associating with moisture? It does not recognize the raging salt water. An enemy is more harmful than that, it is said. If one is not guided by a lama, it is a sign that understanding cannot be gained from letters. A lama gives a slight instruction, and a sailor relies on letters to go to the Golden Island, but does not recognize the path of desire. The path of the ocean must be traversed with the experience of a great captain, it is said. If the edge of deceit is drawn inward, the dangerous cliff will collapse outward, it is a sign of parting from mental doubt. If asked what the mind that realizes the view is like, the answer is: I have no knowledge of that. Ask the person who has seen the mane of a lion, and he will cut off the additions to the view, it is said. If there is no basis for conceptualization in external objects, even if the object is not established, it is a sign of the perverted appearance of hell. A copper scale has no capacity to bear weight, nor is there a blacksmith to forge it, nor is there anyone to guard the outer ocean, it is said. Accomplishment has been attained.

From ༄༅། །Also asked, "Will one still fall back into samsara?" He replied, "To not fall back into samsara, one must attain Buddhahood. Common accomplishments arise from dependent origination, therefore there are signs of destruction." For example, if a bird cannot enter the territory of a garuda, the garuda will fall to the ground, and the strength of its wings will be exhausted. He (referring to Dromtönpa) thought that attaining realization was very difficult. Knowing this, the尊者 said, "It is not difficult; there is no need for gradual practice. The greatness of one dependent origination is that all paths are completed at once. For example, if a king becomes a slave, he does not need to ask his subjects for help." Before one can let go of the bondage of food and clothing, because it is the nature of suffering, even if one has the intention to practice Dharma, it cannot be achieved. For example, before the traces of ashes are removed, no one can practice Dharma. For those who do not understand that there will be no enemies when naked, there is no happiness." 尊者 said, "Because the pride of the mind is cut off, thoughts are naturally liberated. For example, the blacksmith practitioner slept in the room of the life-taking mistress, and no magical powers appeared. What is the reason for this?" He replied, "Because he first saw the lion's dung, he determined all the Dharma in that direction." Dromtönpa thought of giving Dharma teachings. Knowing this, the尊者 said, "Before one is mature, benefiting others cannot be achieved. Before one is accomplished, there is no need to worry about others' food and clothing. It is said that the teacher of gods and humans, Shakyamuni, could not teach Dharma until he had undergone asceticism." Jowo's son Tsang Sang said, "I want to practice the supreme Dharma, but food and clothing are a problem. Please grant me a key instruction that does not require food and clothing." The尊者 said, "It is impossible to practice Dharma like that. If one practices Dharma properly, food and clothing will come from the blessings of the Three Jewels. Even if one wants gold, one cannot dig it up. When gold is mixed with soil, it will delay the work. In the place where gold mines are found, there is no need to look for food and clothing. It is said that a person named Gyagompa was very diligent in gold mining." He also said, "People like me have not accumulated merit. Even if I have great qualities, my merit is small. Please grant me a key instruction to increase merit." The尊者 said, "Merit comes from accumulating merit. Compared to a hundred teachings by Tselde, one bowl of tsampa from Zhangzhung Gepö has more power to accumulate merit."尊者, when practicing Dharma,
