Amidst the chaos, uttering outward bestowal. If the mind is not tamed, it is a sign of clarity. If the mad elephant is not stirred, it is said to be docile. If sensual pleasures are not indulged in, it is a sign of contentment. If brackish water is not drunk, it is said to be satiated. If the mind's experience is destroyed, it is a sign of goodness. The key to a poorly refined jewel lies in the adhering substance, so it is said. When merit is not desired, it is a sign of arising. The water of Purang (Purang County, Ali Prefecture) seems to arise from drought, so it is said. If one does not fixate on the result, it is a sign of attainment. The eyes of a turtle, when opened, do not see; when closed, they see, so it is said. In short, upon examination, it is exceedingly wondrous, so it is said. The mind's contemplative experience is shown as a sign, thus it ends. Generally. Oṃ Supratiṣṭha Vajra Svāhā. Herein lies the treatise entitled "The Mind's Mirror, Utterly Clear." In the language of India: Cittavispaṣṭādarśanāma. In Tibetan: Named "The Mind's Mirror, Utterly Clear." Homage to all the venerable lamas. The noble Buddha, the glory of the six realms of beings. The accomplished one, surpassing others with eight kinds of excellence. Adorned with three precious trainings. Possessing the seven noble riches. Striving for the benefit of others with compassion and the mind of bodhicitta. The wish-fulfilling jewel from which all needs and desires arise. Famous like the sun and the moon. The sole ornament of Jambudvipa. A person who knows the Buddha's intention as it is. Having accumulated human bodies in seven lifetimes. Possessing all kinds of clairvoyance. A fortunate being, a lion among humans. The helmsman who guides the path of liberation. The physician who heals those afflicted by the disease of substantiality. A person who turns his back on afflictions. Free from the defilements of the eight worldly concerns. Knowing the greatness of various interdependent originations. Not deluded in the five fields of knowledge. Possessing the instructions of fifty-four male and female yogis. The warrior who reverses the battlefield of samsara. This black ascetic speaks spontaneously. Emerging from the measure of three kinds of asceticism. The lineage of words is not mixed with flaws. The lineage of meaning is not mixed with speculation. The lineage of blessings is not mixed with Rudra. The lineage of experience is not mixed with defilement. The lineage of introduction is not mixed with doubt.

Without the admixture of translators' words, extracted from the casket of four instructions, experienced the quintessence of both scripture and reasoning, able to unlock the seals of the dakinis, able to open the secret treasury of yogis, able to sever the life-force of the four tantras, able to extract the essence of the three baskets, able to behold the face of the Sugata like stars in the sky, able to dry up the ocean of samsara, able to introduce awareness as immaculate, endowed with many great qualities, the instructions spoken by one like the Second Buddha. This is an answer to a question. Reverend Sir, what is called view, realization, and action? He said, "It is being free from biased partisanship of mind." What is called ultimate truth? He said, "It is being free from the sphere of mind's activity." What is called decisiveness of mind? He said, "It is being free from mental conceit." What is called higher seeing? He said, "It is called the realization of meaning." What is called tranquility? He said, "It is called the wind entering the central channel, like being no different from root consciousness falling asleep." What is called Buddha? He said, "In my country, it is called purifying one's own mind. I don't know what it is called in Tibet." Reverend Sir, what is called Prajnaparamita? He said, "It is called being free from speech." Reverend Sir, what is called Mahamudra? He said, "It is called being free from mental fabrication." What is called the Buddha's intention? He said, "It is called being free from conceptualization." What is called meditation? He said, "It is called being co-emergent." What is called the dissolution of delusion? He said, "It is called all phenomena of outer and inner dissolving upon a single syllable." The Reverend Sir said, "Some people do not trust my instructions and search for many small texts from elsewhere, but they cannot make up their minds with that." Why is that? He said, "Because the root of samsara and nirvana is one's own mind, and all phenomena of outer and inner are also mind, so to ascertain that, these of mine are few in words but condensed in meaning." The Reverend Sir said, "Some people abandon my instructions and spend their lives studying, but they cannot cut through superimpositions with that." Why is that? Both the Buddha's words and the treatises
