At that time, one should accumulate merit and rejoice in thinking that one has repaid one's debts. Sixth, relying on the guidance of wisdom, one should view it as a method for purifying past karma: By practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, the suffering that one will experience in future lives and even further future lives will manifest in this life due to the power of virtue. One should rejoice in thinking that one has practiced the key points and that signs of purifying obscurations have arisen. One should not give up, but should pray: "May my obscurations be purified because of this." Seventh, relying on pure aspirations, one should view it as the activity of the Buddha: We are obscured by the defilements of the past and have not realized it, but the true Buddha knows the beings to be tamed and manifests as diseases and demons, connecting us with omniscience. Eighth, relying on the arising of renunciation, one should view the power of demons as a virtue: Now, relating it to oneself, previously there was no sickness or suffering, no obstacles or enemies. When one is prosperous and fat, attached to worldly desires and distracted, then conditions, diseases, and demons urge one on, causing sickness and suffering to the body. Even if one seeks help from witches and doctors, it is difficult to be effective due to lack of resources. One becomes disillusioned with all methods and thinks: "When I suffer such sickness and pain, no matter who I turn to, it is of no use. What is the use of supporting relatives and friends now? What is the use of defeating enemies? There is nothing but suffering, so now I must practice the Dharma." Such a thought will inevitably arise. At that time, the thought of seeking a guru, a spiritual friend, and the Dharma will arise. By seeking the Dharma and practicing it, suffering will be purified, and temporary and ultimate happiness will be attained. Who did this? It was the demons who did it, so they are not causing harm, but are bestowing benefit. Therefore, do good, abandon worldly affairs, and seek a guru. This is how they are teaching the Dharma in a hidden way. How do they teach? "Now that you are born in a happy realm, you cannot even bear a little suffering. How will you be able to bear the hunger, thirst, and torment of the lower realms?" Therefore, now that you have obtained a leisure and endowed human body, you should use this life for the path of Dharma.

It is said that it is for the benefit of this life and the next. Ninth, relying on abandoning self-grasping and viewing it as a field of generosity: Fearing that obstacles will take something away and feeling fear. If you worry that the body will be taken away, because I am a Bodhisattva, for the field of generosity of a Bodhisattva, there is nothing better than a harmer, so this impure body is given away without hesitation. Then how should it be given? When the thought of fearing being taken away arises, visualize the harmer in front and generate immeasurable compassion, thinking: In the past, I was born as a hungry ghost because of harming others, and now I will fall into even lower realms of suffering. Thinking like this, give away the whole body or parts of limbs, etc., as you wish, so that they are satisfied, and the obscurations of body, speech, and mind are purified, and thus attain enlightenment. If you worry that the mind will be taken away, the mind can be divided into two types: with and without conceptualization. If it cannot be found through examination, how can it be taken away? If you worry that enjoyment will be taken away, I have entered the gate of the Great Vehicle and generated the supreme Bodhicitta, so I must do the work of benefiting others. What work is it? It is to give away the qualities and desires that others want, so giving away enjoyment is perfect. Tenth, relying on good and bad causes and effects and not fearing ghosts and spirits: First, if you think that hungry ghosts will cause harm, or say that they will cause harm to others, this is actually your own conceptualization exaggerating the harm, thereby weakening your own power and strengthening the power of hungry ghosts. Therefore, when you are sick, you will worry that your body will be hindered; when facing death, you will worry that your life will be threatened, thus generating fear and depression. If you do not eliminate this thought of fear and depression, not only will external ghosts and spirits not be repelled, but they will become even more powerful, and even if you repel them once, they will bring harm. For example, if there is no internal thief, external thieves cannot invade; external thieves rely on internal thieves, and once the internal thief is recognized, the external thief will naturally be subdued. Similarly, first you must eliminate the internal thought of fear and depression. How to eliminate it? In the five realms of existence, the three lower realms are evil because of evil causes and effects. Among them, those who cause harm to you are nagas, earth lords, and nyen spirits.
