Harm. If you do not apply antidotes to them, you will be reborn as a hungry ghost. Hatred is like a turbulent wave. Of the five poisons, it is hatred; of the five elements, it is fire; of the five diseases, it is bile disease; of the five types of illness, it is severe pain; of the five demons, it is the male demon. If you do not apply antidotes to it, you will be reborn in hell. Ignorance is like a dark cave. Of the five poisons, it is ignorance; of the five elements, it is earth; of the five diseases, it is phlegm disease; of the five types of illness, it is severe cold; the demon is the earth deity. If you do not apply antidotes to it, you will be reborn as an animal. For example, like a rocky mountain. Of the five poisons, it is pride; of the five elements, it is wind. Of the five types of illness, it is neck pain, etc., and the consciousness becomes confused. The demon belongs to the class of gods. If you do not apply antidotes to it, you will be reborn as a god. For example, like wind. Of the five poisons, it is jealousy; the element is space; the disease is a syndrome; the five types of illness are pain in the upper and lower body, blockage of pulse channels, etc. The demon belongs to non-humans. If you do not apply antidotes to it, you will be reborn as an asura. Moreover, relying on these three poisons, the root afflictions, near afflictions, and eighty-four thousand afflictions arise. Relying on the five diseases, four hundred and four diseases arise. Relying on the five demons, eighty thousand types of obstacles arise. Along with them, twenty-one thousand calamities arise. Relying on the five types of illness, three hundred and sixty kinds of strange diseases arise. The truth of the origin has been taught. In the truth of suffering, from the above three poisons and five poisons, the six realms of beings arise. From them, immeasurable suffering arises, and the main cause of suffering is the four great rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death. An example of the suffering of birth is like a bubble bursting in water. There is no end to rebirth in the six realms. An example of the suffering of old age is like a tree rotting from the inside. This is also a sign of the aging of the earth element. The flesh of the body disappears and remains dry. A sign of the aging of the water element is that the color turns bluish-green and the body loses its luster. A sign of the aging of the fire element is the loss of warmth, like a rock in winter. A sign of the aging of the wind element is shortness of breath and being threatened by cold. An example of sickness is like a flower being struck by frost. An example of death is like falling into an abyss from the top of a steep cliff. The suffering of birth is like a bubble bursting on the grass.

The thought arises of going between the cliffs. When falling onto the cushion, it is no different than re-entering a thorn bush naked. When the mother picks it up, it is like a baby bird being carried away by an eagle. The suffering of aging is like old and weak sheep and goats walking. The suffering of death is like falling into a great abyss. The suffering of encountering enemies is like a baby bird being threatened by an eagle. The suffering of being separated from loved ones is like losing one's only child, or a rakshasa woman losing her child. The suffering of having but not being able to protect is like an old woman herding sheep. The suffering of seeking desires but not finding them is like chasing a mirage on a mountain. Again, the suffering of encountering enemies is like encountering the suffering of the three lower realms. The suffering of being separated from loved ones is like the lama passing away before one's desired teachings are completed. The suffering of having but not being able to protect is the difficult-to-protect teachings of the lama. The suffering of seeking desires but not finding them is the unsurpassed enlightenment that is difficult to seek. The signs of the power of the three poisons erupting outward are: the sign of increasing desire is to abandon food as if it were an enemy; the sign of increasing hatred is to harbor resentment like a resentful yak; the sign of increasing ignorance is to be drowsy like a sleeping bird; the sign of increasing pride is to support oneself like a thorn; the sign of increasing jealousy is to breathe short like a needle. At that time, lying on the cushion is like lying on something rougher than thorns, covering oneself is as heavy as a mountain, and pillowing one's head is as hard as a stone. Whatever one eats is more bitter than bitter gourd soup. At that time, the suffering of the body is like throwing a fish onto the sand. Even if the body is curled up, the demon of death will have no compassion. The suffering of speech is like a monkey losing its child, and even if it utters shrill cries, it cannot stop the pain. The suffering of the mind is like a wild animal caught in a trap, its eyes constantly darting around, thinking about what to do now, but there is no way to escape. The suffering of knowing that one is going to die, not knowing where to go from here. When the messengers of death arrive, there is no ability to endure the pain of being disemboweled. At that time, even if many spiritual friends surround one, it is of no use.
