A corpse, fragments of connected bones, a network of connected blood vessels, should be contemplated as a dharma nature that cannot be relied upon. Furthermore, as stated in the Mother Sutra: Sharadvatiputra, A Bodhisattva Mahasattva abiding in Prajnaparamita, should cultivate nine kinds of contemplation. Thus, one should cultivate the contemplation of swelling, the contemplation of blisters, the contemplation of darkening, the contemplation of redness, the contemplation of blueness, the contemplation of being eaten, the contemplation of scattering, the contemplation of bones, the contemplation of burning. One should cultivate. Furthermore, being impure and displeasing, ugly and unreliable, being of the nature of decay, and completely without freedom, naturally from a young child to a toddler, from a toddler to youthful vigor, from youthful vigor to aging and becoming displeasing, or due to sudden factors such as leprosy, smallpox, tumors, etc., one will immediately become displeasing, one should know. Homage. To counteract hatred, cultivate loving-kindness. When an enemy appears, one should regard the enemy as a skillful and expedient spiritual friend. When harmed by spirits, the Buddha shows the method of pacification to those who are subdued by pacification, shows the method of force to those who are subdued by force, and for those who cannot be subdued by either pacification or force, transforms into a demon, causing illness in the body, generating the thought of renunciation, and skillfully applying the antidote, connecting the body with the deity of the Yidam, connecting speech with the recitation of secret mantras, connecting the mind with the emptiness of the nature of reality, thus recognizing them as skillful and expedient spiritual friends. Thereupon, cutting off the arising of hatred, cultivate loving-kindness, even if the other person insults me, attacks me, or beats me, it is the truth. They are possessed by the poison of afflictions, their minds are confused, knowing this, cultivate loving-kindness. I, on the other hand, know the cause and effect of karma, the acceptance and rejection of black and white dharmas, have become a vessel to be tamed by the Dharma, know the way to practice the stages of the path, and have generated the mind of enlightenment. It is extremely inappropriate to fight with them, thus one should rebuke oneself. For example, if someone is driven mad by a wind disease, they attack and beat the doctor, but the doctor does not retaliate, but says they are delirious and then heals their illness. Thus, seeing that it is not good for me to generate hatred.

Thinking, "I should do this," one stops anger and cultivates loving-kindness. Moreover, you should regard the virtuous friend who urges you to "cultivate patience" as a virtuous friend. If he still does not want to accept the antidote, then you, the virtuous friend who is skilled in means, seize him, arouse his bodhicitta, and ask him, "Shouldn't you do things that benefit others?" and so on, to refute him. The antidote to delusion is to cultivate the wisdom of individual discrimination: in the post-meditation period, purify the obscurations of the body by prostrations, circumambulations, and so on; purify the obscurations of speech by reciting sutras, mantras, and so on; purify the obscurations of the mind by meditating on the meaning of the emptiness of dharmata. The samadhi of courageous conduct has already been taught. The vajra-like samadhi is: abiding in any samadhi, one can destroy opposing forces, and no obstruction can penetrate. The illusion-like samadhi is: in all rising and entering, one realizes all dharmas as illusion-like, and cultivates this samadhi. The meaning of "the samadhi-paramita like a mountain king" is: if the samadhi possesses these three qualities, just like the central mountain king Sumeru, which cannot be moved or shaken by any factors such as wind, and cannot be moved, no afflictions or conceptual thoughts can move or shake it, nor can they cause it to move. The method of relying on a virtuous friend is as described before. The method of practicing through the two doors of skillful means and wisdom is: being grasped by the wisdom that does not fixate on the three spheres, one does not abide in the extreme of samsara; being grasped by great compassion, one does not abide in the extreme of nirvana. The method of practicing through the four practices is: aspiration and the other three are the accumulation practice; diligence like fire is the entering practice; accumulating merit by being grasped by the two doors of skillful means and wisdom is the accumulation practice; gaining victory over the four conceptual thoughts is the attainment of liberation practice. The method of practicing the Prajnaparamita is: through hearing, one understands the words; through thinking, one understands the meaning; through meditation, one experiences the meaning. Through hearing, one generates certainty; through thinking, one cuts off imputations; through meditation, one makes the meaning manifest. Furthermore, through wisdom, one understands that the nature of all dharmas is the meaning of emptiness, nature.

What is emptiness? This is to be understood through the example of the moon in water. The moon in water has four symbolic meanings: the moon appears in the water, but it is not truly there; although it appears as the moon, the moon has never existed; the appearance of the moon and the non-existence of the moon are not different; if you understand the characteristics of the moon, the moon is naturally liberated. First, from the wise to the child, no one can deny that the moon appears. Second, the moon in the water has never existed from the beginning. Third, the appearance of the moon itself has never existed as the essence of the moon, so the two are not separate. Fourth, the moon has a measure of fifty yojanas, emits cool rays, and has three characteristics of eliminating darkness. But the moon that appears in the water does not have these three characteristics. Therefore, know that the moon is empty in its own essence. In short, although it appears as the moon, it is not the essence of the moon, so it is called emptiness in the essence of the moon. It can also be understood through the image in the mirror. The face appears in the mirror, but it is not truly there; at the time of the appearance of the face, the face has never existed; the appearance of the face itself has never existed as the essence of the face, so appearance and emptiness are not separate; understanding the nature of the face, one can realize its non-existence like a mirror. It can also be understood through the example of the rainbow. The various colors of the rainbow appear vividly, but they are not truly there; from the time of appearance, in the place where it appears, the rainbow has never existed; appearance and emptiness are not different; if you understand the nature of color, you can understand that color is not truly there. Similarly, all dharmas from form to omniscience appear in the mind, but they are not truly there; at the time of appearance in the mind, their state, mode of existence, or mode of abiding has never existed from the beginning. It is not that emptiness is transformed by destroying the previously existing nature by the mind, but it is naturally empty from the beginning. If the self-nature previously existed, and one cultivates emptiness through the mind, making it newly become emptiness, then emptiness becomes something newly created by the mind, and the mind that cultivates emptiness becomes a denial of the self-nature of things.
