Moreover, the arising of suffering is the truth of suffering. Patience is the truth of the path. Liberation from suffering through patience is the truth of cessation. The way to practice patience is: there are three types of patience, namely, patience in accepting suffering, patience in not caring about harm, and patience in being certain about the Dharma. The first has four aspects: relying on one's own suffering to tame the mind, relying on the suffering of others to tame the mind, relying on one's own suffering to cultivate the power of wisdom, and relying on the suffering of others to cultivate the power of wisdom. The first is: when suffering such as illness arises in one's own mindstream, one should not give rise to unpleasant thoughts, but rather generate thoughts of renunciation. One should know that this is the perfection of patience, the broom that sweeps away sins and obscurations, and thus be happy to accept the arrival of suffering, hoping that the suffering will not leave, hoping that the suffering will last long, hoping that the suffering will not disappear, not wanting the suffering to be overcome, and taking the suffering as the object of patience, even if the suffering is heavily oppressed, one will not give rise to the mind of abandoning it. The second is: training the mind in such a way that all the diseases and sufferings that other beings have, may they all come upon me. Patience in not caring about harm is: no matter what illness and suffering arise, one should not be discouraged or afraid, but rather despise it, just like adding firewood to a burning fire, making patience even more grow. Patience in being certain about the Dharma is: with the wisdom of individual observation, one should intellectually decompose tangible things into various parts, analyzing all the way to the finest dust, and ultimately even the finest dust cannot be determined. Decompose the mind into momentary parts, analyzing all the way to the final moment at the end of time, and ultimately even the final moment at the end of time cannot be determined, and then in meditative equipoise, do not focus on the object of patience, the practitioner of patience, or the patience to be practiced, and abide equally like space. The way to practice in the post-meditation state is: when suffering arises, regard it as the activity of the Buddha; illness is the path that guides to liberation; illness is the motivation that stimulates renunciation; illness is the lamp that illuminates faith; illness is the stepping stone to enlightenment.

The spur of virtue. Knowing that disease, sin, and obscurations are brooms, one should cultivate patience. Furthermore, there are three ways to practice patience: For example, when crossing to the other side of a river, there is going to the other side by going around the upper edge of the river, going to the other side by going around the lower edge of the river, and making the river itself the path, relying on a boat or raft to go to the other side. Of these three, the other two are long roads and will not quickly reach the other side. The last is easy and quickly reaches the other side. Similarly, when cultivating patience, when the two enemies, demons, cause harm, saying "I will not accumulate sin," and escaping from the enemy to cultivate patience, or subduing the enemy with power or ability and then wanting to practice Dharma, or making the enemy itself the path, There are three ways to cultivate patience. The first two are long and time-consuming, so they are not skillful means. The third is great merit and quickly completes the accumulation, so one quickly becomes a Buddha. That is, cultivating patience for the past is like covering the mouse hole after the cat has run away, which is useless. Cultivating patience for the future is like seeking things in a place where there is no one, which is wrong. So what should be done ? When the two enemies, demons, cause harm, one must cultivate patience at that very moment. When an enemy appears, subdue them. When a friend appears, cherish them. When a thought arises, cut it off. When afflictions arise, destroy them. As it is said: When afflictions arise, if the antidote does not arrive, the essence of the Dharma will surely be lost by Dingriwa. So it is. So, the object of cultivating patience is, for example, when Lha Jyin (Devadatta) or someone like that causes harm, cultivate it for the harm caused by Lha Jyin (Devadatta) or someone like that, and do not cultivate it for what has not caused harm. Whatever disease, evil spirit, or suffering arises, cultivate it, not what has not arisen. Regarding the way to rely on a virtuous friend, the noble virtuous friend is the perfect Buddha, because his kindness to all sentient beings is extremely great. However, one cannot see his face directly, nor can one hear his voice directly, so one must follow the instructions he has spoken. Among them, the personal virtuous friend is the Lama.
