Poison! The end of karma does not return. (It refers to) encountering enjoyment that has not been obtained. Enjoyment is deceptive, without real meaning, and effort is meaningless. Things are completely reversed, becoming deception. Not understanding it this way, thinking that enjoyment arises through deception and hypocrisy. Accumulating terrible enjoyment, sin naturally ripens. When enjoyment becomes a condition for awakening the fruit of others' generosity, at the time of death, saying to children and others, "I have done so much hard work, I give to you, you should be grateful to me." But you are not worthy of their gratitude. Without prior generosity, obtaining enjoyment, the Buddha did not say so. He obtains your enjoyment only because of generosity in a previous life, you are only awakening his condition of generosity. The enjoyment that you have accumulated through a lifetime of hard work is like the enjoyment obtained by a hired worker being taken away by the master, or the honey accumulated by bees being taken away by other animals. Although it is such a Dharma nature, due to ignorance of karma and being deluded by worldly thoughts, it is not noticed. At the time of death, one has no autonomy over the (wealth) one has accumulated, and one can only bear the result of the ripening. Enjoyment is like being childless. When it is taken away by others, one will regret it, like panning for gold. Also, when all the friends have found a lot of gold and are about to return to their homeland, some people with little merit dig a lot of soil, and the piles of soil are as high as Mount Sumeru. The dug holes are bottomless, and as a result, the soil collapses, and many people die. All the food is exhausted, and all the clothes are piled up into balls of yarn. The body is exhausted and eventually falls down. The body is covered in blood and flesh, and calluses are worn out on the hands. However, when returning to the homeland, not even a grain of gold, or a grain of barley, or a bean can be taken away. One feels disgusted and regretful with oneself, thinking, "Oh, such a person with little merit like me, they take away so much, but I have nothing. These meaningless things I have done." Then it feels as uncomfortable as having taken a laxative. Similarly, when one realizes the time of death, recalling what one has done before.
