The source of [teachings] comes from the western Oddiyana land of Dakinis, and the source of wisdom comes from the eastern Bengal of India, and the source of merit comes from the southern Betala, and the source of wonders comes from the southern Vishukoti Chandana land. This instruction on the Perfection of Wisdom, which gathers the essence of all the meanings of the six transmissions and reveals them, has two parts: the explanation of the meaning of the lineage of lamas, and the explanation of the meaning of the actual instruction. The explanation of the meaning of the lineage of lamas. First, the Buddha of the past, Dipamkara, taught Shakyamuni, who taught Ananda, and the transmission continued to the monk Simha. After thirty-six generations, it was interrupted by the evil king. Then, the noble Asanga thought that Maitreya was the one who directly heard from Shakyamuni. So, he prayed to Maitreya, who appeared and directly taught him the Perfection of Wisdom. He taught it to his younger brother Vasubandhu, who taught it to his holy maternal grandfather, Armadeva, who imparted it to the venerable Indian master, famous like the sun and moon. The explanation of the actual instruction. Second, the actual instruction has two parts: explaining the vessel to whom the instruction is given, and explaining the actual instruction to be given. Explaining the vessel to whom the instruction is given. First, faith is crucial for entering the Dharma, and faith is necessary as the basis for liberation. The basis of qualities is also made by faith, the friend of diligence is also made by faith, the treasury of wisdom is also made by faith, and the vessel of instruction is also made by faith. Without faith, no qualities of the white side will arise. If you encounter the Dharma but have no faith, it is useless to be a mere pretender to Dharma. It is like a farmer without a field, like a traveler without a boat, like a bamboo shoot with rotten seeds, like a handless person going to the golden island, like a corpse that has not died, like a prayer without carrying ashes, like a stray animal whose four legs do not stand on the ground, like a blind person staring with wide eyes, like a deaf person listening intently, a man without faith is like a bull growing a mane, a woman without faith is like a cow wearing a jewel, a young person without faith is like a poisonous flower, an old person without faith is like a weaver of darkness.

Generally, this faith arises from the accumulation of merit, so it is difficult for everyone to generate. Due to circumstances, Ah! This faith from beginningless time is the realm of practice for a few fortunate individuals. A person who has faith from the depths of their heart will spontaneously generate compassion for beings, will develop reverence for the Dharma without any connection, and will trust in the whispered instructions. A human body adorned with faith is like a victory banner hoisted on the top of a offering tree, beautiful among gods and humans. As a sign of having faith, one always seeks the lama while weeping, and does not cling to perfect enjoyment like Prince Siddhartha. For the sake of the Dharma, one can practice asceticism like Prince Siddhartha. Therefore, the root of all Dharma is faith, so it is first shown that faith is necessary. In order to attain enlightenment, it is necessary to firmly grasp the thought of definitely renouncing samsara, so in order to generate the mind of renouncing samsara, the faults of samsara are shown: The faults of samsara are inconceivable; the three doors of body, speech, and mind are tormented by the disease of desire; agitated by the four rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death; bound by the iron chain of self-grasping; caught in the net of various sufferings; no matter where one is born in the six realms of samsara, there is no opportunity for happiness. In hell, there is the suffering of heat and cold; in the animal realm, there is the suffering of stupidity and being exploited; even if one obtains a good rebirth, one cannot escape the limits of suffering. Samsara is like a pit in a prison, afflictions are like poisonous snakes, sinful actions are like virulent poison, gain and respect are like shackles, wealth and possessions are like earth and stones, enemies and hatred are like diseases, relatives and love are like chains, the body is like an illusion, life is like a water bubble, and breath is like mist, so one does not know when one will die. Do not make long-term plans, because the morning of death will not stop no matter what, so do not specifically pursue the activities of this life. Because death is not Dharma, it will not stop no matter what, so do not put important things far away. Do not leave the boat for crossing the river on dry land, do not hide the person holding the torch, do not use the eyes of the blind guide for other things, and do not let the person skilled in art sleep. All the perfections of this life are unnecessary, so be deluded.
