The duration of a session should be determined by the circumstances. Initially, because clarity is short-lived, it is called a short session. Clarity of the object refers to the key instruction of clarity, which is the method of practice described above. Many times refers to repeating the clear session many times in one sitting. Tightening the antidote means that if the mind wanders outward, bring the mind back to the object and rest the mind on the object. After resting the mind on the object, if it is again deceived by the outward-wandering mind, tighten awareness like a guard, and place the subsequent thought again and again. Relaxing awareness means that if the antidote is applied too forcefully, even if you practice samadhi, it will make the mind rough, increase speech, fall into dullness, intensify attachment, increase illness, and intensify self-grasping. Therefore, just remember the nature of reality, emptiness, without distraction, and relax awareness slightly. Practicing after relaxing will improve the effect and reduce illness. If you forcefully rest the mind, wherever the mind gathers, there the conceptual thoughts gather, and there also gathers illness. Transform the conceptual thoughts that cling to the object of the mind. If you lead the mind to the object, it will separate; if you cling, cut off the thought of clinging; view awareness as without support. Knowing the breaks in a session means indicating the time for meditation, that is, initially, when joining, if the mind rests on the object and scattered conceptual thoughts arise, transform to the object you are practicing and practice. Practice making the object of abiding clearer and clearer, and cut off the scattering of clarity. This is the break in the session of abiding. Examining the place of entry means that when practicing meditation, if you want to practice the essence, strive to practice; if you don't want to, don't practice, but maintain a continuous desire to practice meditation. Transforming the aspect means transforming the aspect when dullness arises, that is, if there is agitation, transform the aspect of practice onto the mind and observe the inner path; if there is dullness, transform the aspect onto the object and manifest the subsequent attainment aspect. There are four standards of measurement: The standard for measuring the path is to observe faults and virtues; the standard for measuring the object is to observe whether the awareness of mindfulness is clear; the standard for measuring samadhi is to observe the time of breaks in a session; the standard for measuring elements and abilities is to observe one's own intellect. Identifying what should be abandoned is, first of all, clinging to the mind.

At the time of [distraction], abandon discursive thoughts. At the time of abiding of the mind, abandon sinking. Homage. At the time when the mind is mastered, abandon clinging to reality. At the time of the actual practice of the path, abandon afflictions. In conjunction with signs, it is gathered into three signs: the sign of having seized the mind, the sign of the mind abiding, the sign of the mind being mastered. The first is: one does not want to engage in any external distracting activities, one spends time in samadhi, one wants to meditate. The second is: one does not want to separate the mind from the object of focus, even if one abandons the object of focus, one effortlessly lets the mind rest on it. The external complexion is good, and the disease gradually clears up. The third is: one is able to transform the object of focus, that is, the object of focus that one meditates on. One can meditate on it as large as Mount Meru, and one can meditate on it as small as a mustard seed. It can also turn into purifying nectar inside the body, and one can avert harm from non-humans. That is also, knowing the intervals between sessions, examining the place of entry, and combining with signs, these three are the subsequent time. Transforming and measuring are the time of application. Short sessions, clear object of focus, and many repetitions, these three are the time when faults have not occurred. Applying antidotes diligently and relaxing awareness, these two are what to do after faults have occurred. All the faults that are adverse to meditating on samadhi are also eliminated by the three that do not deviate: the application does not deviate from generating the mind of supreme enlightenment, the actual practice does not deviate from the wisdom of realizing emptiness, and the subsequent does not deviate from perceiving like an illusion. The first eliminates all the faults of the lower vehicle, the second eliminates all the obstructing demons and demonic activities, and by realizing emptiness, demons cannot find an opportunity. It appears as the seven means of accomplishment that do not depend on other protectors. The meaning of what was said is also this. The third also cuts off all the obstacles of demonic activities. All demons arise from clinging to reality, and perceiving like an illusion cuts off the cause of demons arising. The method of practicing in accordance with the aspect of ascertainment has been shown. The reliance on a spiritual mentor has also been explained before. Lineage is the basis for practitioners,
