Yeshe said, 'Life is the air that flows in the right and left channels. Blocking its flow in the right and left channels and making it enter the central channel from the center of the navel is the effort. Through this power, the downward-clearing air, the ralaṃ air, will enter the lower end of the central channel, the conch-shaped channel, from the wheel of the secret place.' 'Therefore, the air that enters the central channel is the wisdom air, which comes out of the nostrils. Focusing on the three aspects of coming out, entering, and staying without distraction is the Mind Vajra Recitation.' **The Timing of Meditation** The second point is: In the chapter of the Kalachakra, it says: 'From emptiness, through smoke and so on, by the certainty of the Guru, meditate on the image at the appropriate time.' Therefore, through meditation with fingers closed, when the ten signs are seen and become stable, in the first session, meditate when the air flows from the left nostril. That is to say, this is the air that flows upward from the nostril. **The Limbs of How to Meditate** The third point is the way of meditation, which has four points. First, the object of focus: In the Oral Transmission, it says: 'The object of focus is the air of the three channels.' Therefore, the object of focus is the air flowing from the ro rkyang, the central channel, and the three channels. Second, the necessity: Again, in that same scripture, it says: 'From then on, in order to see the empty form, in order to generate unchanging bliss, one should meditate on the limb of life exertion.' Just as it is said. Third, how long to meditate on life exertion: Until the air no longer flows from the right and left channels, but always flows from the central channel, and one obtains uncontaminated bliss. Fourth, how to meditate on life exertion: The place of meditation: In the place where one practices day and night yoga, the body posture is the ordinary lotus position. The gaze looks at the sky directly in front of the eyebrow center. There are many ways to meditate, but there are six points: the certainty of the place of meditation, the certainty of the body posture, the certainty of the gaze, the certainty of the distinction of the way of meditation, the certainty of the measure of meditation, and the removal of obstacles through life exertion itself. The first point is: the body posture and gaze are as mentioned above. In cold weather, one can also take a squatting posture. The combination of language and air is: 'Speech and what should be focused on, symbolic and ultimate.' Thus it is said, the first one is not done here. Second, Eye Vajra Recitation: After eliminating the ro air, observe from which nostril the air flows. If it flows from the right nostril, visualize red; if it flows from the left nostril, visualize white; if it flows from both nostrils, visualize green. Inwardly... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Focusing on the process of breath entering, staying at the navel, and exhaling from the nostrils is the first point of focus. As it is said: 'These three—entering, staying, and exhaling—purify the channels with three letters.' Whichever nostril the breath enters and exits from, visualize that upon inhalation, it is a white Om (藏文:ༀ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om); when staying at the navel, it is a blue Hum (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hum); and when exhaling, it is a red Ah (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:Ah). Following this order, these are successively the vajra recitations of body, speech, and mind, three times three, making nine. This is the second point of focus. The third is the vajra recitation of viewing: Regardless of which nostril the breath enters and exits from, without fixating on color or letter, but as if wind and mind are inseparable, focus on the entering, staying, and exhaling of the breath, and meditate with one-pointedness. If you strive to meditate in this way, it is the supreme method for deceiving death. As the 'Supreme Bliss Source Tantra' says: 'The yogi, through meditative absorption, should count the entering breaths. Until the number reaches one hundred thousand, etc., always recite silently. The practitioner, reciting silently, by completing one hundred thousand recitations, even if life is about to end in five years, there is no doubt that they will survive. Always rising in the morning, count one thousand breaths. Therefore, for the yoga of breath, always remain in meditative absorption.' Furthermore, the 'Union of Sun and Moon Practice' says: 'These three—entering, staying, and exhaling—purify the channels with three letters. By abiding in the vajra posture, with legs crossed, through the sequence of vajra recitation, the breath will move through the channels.' The vajra recitation in the ultimate sense is, as the 'Praise of Names' says: 'Thus, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, the fully enlightened ones, arise from A (藏文:ཨ,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:A). A is the most supreme of all letters, it is a sacred letter with great meaning.' Therefore, contemplate the meaning of the letter A, which is that the Dharmadhatu is unborn from the beginning and is naturally luminous. This is the practice of gathering the senses in meditation. Thirdly, the method of settling the mind is also the same. Secondly, the five signs of experience during practice are: The physical experience is that the central channel opens, and the gateway to taste is blocked, so one experiences comfort or discomfort; the breath experience is being able to determine which nostril the breath is entering from; the mind experience is that awareness appears as clarity and emptiness; the visual experience is seeing the colors of the five breaths; the dream experience is that depending on the amount of vajra recitation, dreams will be gentle or rough, etc., with certainty. Left leg in single lotus position, right leg drawn in. If the breath flows from the right side, then reverse it. Or adopt the vajra full lotus position itself. The combination of filling breath is, from the sign of which breath is flowing, if the breath is flowing from the left side, then with the right hand... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
