If there is anything incomplete, the first is the Svātantrika (self-sufficient inference) and the Prasangika (consequentialist inference). The definitions are in order: the refutation of a valid proof, which is the reason of one's own Svātantra (self-sufficient system) that one has established, and the way in which one's own reason is related to the dharma (phenomena) that one wants to prove, and whether the name established from the perspective of what is to be refuted and what is contradictory is the same or different. If classified, the first has four types, as the verse says: 'Fire and sandalwood fire and, smoke dependent on four contradictions, cold touch peacock feather and, establishing refutation in order.' That is, contradiction of nature, pervasion of contradiction, contradiction of effect, and pervasive contradiction. The second has five types, as the verse says: 'Fire and smoke and that fire, without fuel and without fire, peacock feather and peacock feather's touch, feather bloodstain refutation.' That is, manifestation of pervasive contradiction, effect of pervasive contradiction, nature of contradiction of cause, non-appearance of pervasion and non-appearance of cause, manifestation of contradiction of pervasion, pervasion of contradiction of cause, manifestation of contradiction of effect and attribute of nature, attribute of effect is Svātantrika inference. In the refutation of a valid proof, dharma (phenomena), pervasion are established by valid cognition, exclusion is by valid exclusion, the reason is admitted, the need is not for others. The second type, the refutation of a non-establishing proof, nature and effect are the definitions, by three non-appearances it cannot be established. Thus, the words of debate are called 'refutation,' among which refutation has two types: correct and similar. The definitions are in order: the faultless words that speak of faults as faults, which can hinder the debater's intention, and the reversed words that speak of non-faults as faults. Third, from the perspective of the nature of the object, it is divided into two types. The first is the nature of the directly shown reason. The nine distinctions of dharma (phenomena) and subject are as described above. The second is the nature of the indirectly shown thesis. Producer and produced, obtainer and obtained, measurer and measured, reason and subject, thesis and proof are five types. Here, the last type, that is, from the perspective of the thesis and proof of reason and subject, the definition of the thesis is: to become the object inferred by the reason. If classified, there are two types: thesis for oneself and thesis for others. The definitions are in order: the collective meaning of dharma (phenomena) and subject, the self-benefiting rea... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like the earth can be used as a measure, what possesses the five dharmas such as entity? The five dharmas are stated in the 'Treatise on Valid Cognition': 'Entity alone is to be explained, intention and non-manifestation.' As it is said. First, the meaning of entity is: If it is for accomplishing the benefit of others, then there must be something that is not forgotten and has been acknowledged by the opponent. This is what is to be explained. The meaning of intention is: If it is so, then there must be an intention of 'it is this.' This is what is to be explained. The meaning of non-manifestation is: If it is so, then there must be something that is not obstructed by valid cognition. This is what is to be explained. Here, the opposite of non-exclusion, the meaning of exclusion is: something that is obstructed by its own exclusion. If classified, there are four types: perceptual exclusion, inferential exclusion by the force of things, reputational exclusion, and reliable exclusion. For example: 'Sound is not pleasant.' 'A vase is permanent.' 'The one with a rabbit is not the moon.' 'Inference is not valid cognition.' And so on, like the meaning of a proposition. Second, non-valid cognition includes: unapprehended cognition, distorted cognition, doubt, and investigative wisdom. Their definitions are, in order: the cognition that is ignorant of the reality of the object; the cognition that grasps what is not as what is; the cognition that is uncertain about the object and gives rise to two minds; and the wisdom that, on top of what was previously apprehended by one's own valid cognition, adds the aspect of grasper and grasped. If classified, the first has two types: being ignorant of the reality of conventional truth, such as ignorance of cause and effect; and being ignorant of the ultimate truth, such as ignorance of emptiness. The second has two types: conceptual and non-conceptual. The third has two types: manifest (the object of a sudden sign appearing) and latent (the object of a sign appearing for the benefit of others), or two types: transforming meaning and non-transforming meaning, or two types: equal and biased grasping. The fourth has two types: investigative wisdom induced by perception and inference. Third, classifying mind and mental factors. The definitions of mind and mental factors are: in order, the consciousness that can recognize the essence of things by its own power, and recognizes the differences of things by the power of others; and the consciousness that can recognize the differences of things by its own power, and recognizes the essence of things by the power of others. If classified, the first, mind, includes the six consciousnesses from eye consciousness to mental consciousness, as well as the alaya consciousness and afflicted mind, totaling eight consciousnesses. Their definitions are, in order: the main consciousness, directly born from its own dominant condition, the eye faculty and form, the other-consciousness, etc. This is the definition of the five sense consciousnesses. Whatever is born from its own dominant condition, the mental faculty... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
