Third, for example, in a rocky valley east of a place without trees, if there were trees, they could be identified, but because trees are not identified. Fourth, for example, in a yard surrounded on all four sides without a roof, if there were an unobstructed ability to produce smoke in front, smoke could be identified outside, but because smoke is not identified. Second, contradictory signs rely on mutually exclusive contradictions and mutually exclusive contradictions. The definitions are, in order: the three modes of being established as mutually exclusive with the object of negation; and the three modes of negation being established as mutually exclusive with the object of negation. Divided into two types, the first has three: the nature of contradiction, pervasion, and result. Divided into four types: nature and cause, pervasion and result, related to the nature of contradiction; four types of pervasion-related; four types of result-related, totaling twelve types. Examples of these are: on the basis of cold contact, using fire and billowing smoke and the great power of sandalwood fire to continuously cover, and fluff that produces cold effects, and blocking water contact and the ability of cold causes, fire, smoke, and sandalwood fire are used as signs. Second, there are three types that rely on mutually exclusive contradictions: sound is constant because it is made of things. For example, the nature of pervasive contradiction is identified. The collection of causes for a sprout is complete, but the sprout is not necessarily produced because it depends on subsequent causes arising from itself. For example, negating the necessity of dependence. A vase, its self-destruction does not depend on other causes besides its own cause, but is destined to be destroyed from the moment it is established. For example, necessity negates dependence, totaling three types. Second, what appears to be a sign is divided into three types: contradiction, uncertainty, and non-establishment. The definitions are, in order: as a property of a side, its concomitance and reversal are completely opposite; as a property of a side, there is doubt about its pervasiveness; and it is used as a sign, but as a property of a side, it is not established. Divided into two types, the first is contradiction of nature and contradiction of result, or divided into four types: contradictory signs that negate the essence, characteristics, the essence of the subject, and characteristics of the object to be proven. The definitions are, in order: as a property of a side, by negating the essence of the object to be proven, it harms the collective meaning of the desired object. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, that which obstructs the meaning of the established proposition by the force of negating the distinction of the dharma to be proven, the essence of the subject, and the distinction of the subject, is called a sign that harms the meaning of the collection of the object of desire. The former two are contradictory by nature, and the latter two are considered to be falsely established due to the lack of pervasiveness. Examples are, in order: 'Sound is permanent because it is produced'; 'Eyes, etc., are the subject'; 'I am permanent because I benefit others, because it is an accumulation'; 'Eyes, etc., are not accumulations as the subject, benefit others because it is an accumulation'; 'The real space is the subject, is permanent because it is not produced.' The second is the uncertain sign, which is divided into the uncommon uncertain sign and the common uncertain sign. Their definitions are, in order: that which, in any aspect, is not seen in either the similar or dissimilar class, thus causing doubt about pervasiveness; and that which, in any aspect, is seen in either the similar or dissimilar class, thus causing doubt about pervasiveness. In terms of classification, the first has four situations: although it exists in the similar class, it is not seen; although it does not exist in the similar class, it is not seen; although it exists in the dissimilar class, it is not seen; although it does not exist in the dissimilar class, it is not seen. For example, in order: 'Sound is impermanent because it is audible'; 'Sound is permanent because it is audible'; 'A living body is the subject, has a self because it has life'; 'Without self because it has life.' The second, the common uncertain sign, is divided into the actually uncertain sign and the remaining uncertain sign. Their definitions are, in order: a sign that, in any aspect, is seen in both the similar and dissimilar classes, thus causing doubt about pervasiveness; and a sign that, in any aspect, is seen in either the similar or dissimilar class, or not seen in either, thus causing doubt about pervasiveness. In terms of classification, the first has four situations: it is pervasive in both the similar and dissimilar classes; it is pervasive in the similar class, and partial in the dissimilar class; it is pervasive in the dissimilar class, and partial in the similar class; it is partial in both classes. For example, in order: the subject, such as the third, seventh, and ninth of the nine. The second, the remaining uncertain sign, is divided into the truly remaining uncertain sign and the contradictory remaining uncertain sign. Their definitions are, in order: a sign that, in any aspect, only sees some similar classes, does not see some dissimilar classes, and only through the power of establishment, causes doubt about pervasiveness; and that which, in any aspect, only sees some similar classes, does not see some similar classes, and only through the power of establishment, causes doubt about pervasiveness. For example, a person who can speak, the other party is the subject. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
