It is not so. If the body is the basis for the mind to exist after it has been accomplished, then, is existence one with the mind? If the functions are different, then this existence of the mind, as the subject, should not be produced by the body, because existence is either other than or one with the mind. Even if it is other, the body, as the subject, what can it do for the existence of the mind? It can't do anything, because existence is other than the mind. Furthermore, the mind, as the subject, will not perish, because the body makes it not perish. If it is argued that it perishes due to the cause of destruction, there is no fault, then, is destruction one with the mind or different in function? If it is the former, then the cause of the mind's destruction, as the subject, should not give rise to the mind's destruction, because destruction only gives rise to what is other than the mind. If it is the latter, then the destruction of the mind, as the subject, does not need the cause of the mind's destruction to arise, because destruction is one with the mind. These are all the same inferences. Furthermore, the mind, as the subject, even the cause of existence cannot make it exist, because if it encounters the cause of destruction, it will perish, and if it does not encounter it, it will exist permanently. If it is said that it makes it exist without encountering the cause of destruction, there is no fault, then the mind, as the subject, should be self-destructive, because it destroys without depending on the cause of destruction. If you admit this, then what does the cause of existence do for existence? It does nothing, because it perishes as soon as it is established, so there is no harm. If it is said that, for example, a container is the basis for water, the body is also the basis for the mind to exist after it has been accomplished. Then, for this subject, the container, as the subject, just as it does not benefit water, should not be the basis for water not perishing, because for the existence or non-existence of water not perishing, there is no need to be a basis. For existence and non-existence, etc., it is the same. As the subject, it should not be the basis for water to exist permanently, because the elements of water are perishing every moment. Therefore, as the subject, it can be the basis for water, because the flow of water does not flow downwards, but will produce such a thing. If it is not so, then it is unreasonable to be its basis, because it makes it permanent. Therefore, as the subject, it will become the basis for water, because it will prevent water from flowing downwards. For the general characteristics of qualities, as the subject, what need is there for a basis for existing without perishing? There is no need, because it is without the characteristic of going. All the reasons are the same. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is so. This reasoning clarifies the point. Why is that? According to the Vaibhashika (藏文:བྱེ་བྲག་པ, a school of Buddhist philosophy) view, like coarse cloth and fine wool, cows and horns, the dependent and the depended existing in the same place, for this 'fitting', they consider this relationship as a 'fitting relationship'. Like the individual (藏文, व्यक्ति,vyakti, individual) and Ishvara (藏文, ईश्वर,īśvara, the lord), the dependent and the depended existing in different places, for 'having', they consider this relationship as a 'having relationship'. Moreover, they consider all dependents and dependeds as permanent. Therefore, as knowable things, having impermanent dependents and dependeds is unreasonable, because there are no impermanent dependents and dependeds. Self (藏文, आत्म,ātman, self) and happiness, etc., are not the cause of fitting, because the reason is the same. The general appearance is not another impermanent dependent, because the reason is the same. If other things perish by encountering impermanent things without encountering the cause of destruction, then, what is the use of the cause of existence for things and consciousness? Because it is meaningless. Even if they perish without other causes of destruction, then, for things and consciousness, the causes of existence are all powerless. Furthermore, all things that are born will never perish at any time, because you all have dependents. Because you think that all things with dependents have impermanent existence. Do things perish by themselves or not? If self-destruction is the nature of things, then things do not need other existence to make them impermanent, because things cannot do this. If self-destruction is not the nature of things, then things do not need other existence to make them impermanent. This theory also proves that the body and mind are not the immediate cause and having the immediate cause of each other. Wisdom and compassion, etc., are not the immediate cause of the body composed of the four elements, because wisdom and compassion, etc., do not decline with the decline of the body, but become excellent or decline through the function of wisdom. The light of the lamp is not the immediate cause of the creation of consciousness, because the light of the lamp depends on the lamp. Because by taking essence and other things to make the body special, wisdom and other things become special. If the body is the immediate cause of consciousness, then the wisdom and other things that grow by taking essence to make the body grow are not the direct immediate cause of the body, because wisdom and other things will become special with the body. The body helps the mind.
