It increases because it has the constant quality of growing from taking the previous seed of its own kind. Third, jumping depends on the body rather than one's own nature: The ordinary jump, is the subject. Just as love and so on grow from the previous self-awareness taken as the cause, you are not born from the previous jump itself, because your own immediate cause depends on the strength and effort of the body. Therefore, an ordinary person, is the subject. Your jump has a definite limit, because your immediate cause, the strength and effort of the body, has the ability to produce a definite limit. Fourth, again refuting the objections to both the example and the meaning: If jumping arises from the body as the immediate cause, then it should be possible to jump to the extent of later training from the first day. Answer: An ordinary person who trains in jumping, is the subject. It is not possible to jump as in the beginning, because at first the body is uncoordinated and weighed down by phlegm and so on. Even if the incoordination is gradually eliminated by the effort of moving the body, the ordinary person's jump will not increase infinitely, because the strength of the body as the cause determines its limit. If, like jumping, love and so on should also be so, why not? Ordinary sentient beings, are the subject. Even though love arises from its own seed, your mind does not abide in great compassion, because your seed is harmed by the cause of improper attention and by opposing factors such as unfriendly hatred, thereby hindering the growth of your love. If there is no obstacle, love and so on will increase, and for a person who has firmly cultivated compassion such as love, love and so on will naturally enter the mind, because there is no hatred and so on hindering the growth of love, and the friendly cause, compassion, is constantly cultivated. Why does it happen that way? In this way, previous cultivation of love and so on makes the mind's qualities, love, the mind free from attachment, and wisdom and other later qualities clearer, and is the root of growth, being the main factor in its benefit. A noble Bodhisattva, is the subject. Is the nature of great compassion, is pleasing, because he is a noble one who has cultivated love extremely. For example, for one free from attachment, a mind free from attachment naturally arises; for one with desire, a mind of desire naturally arises; and for one who cultivates ugliness, a mind of aversion naturally arises. Fourth, explaining the teacher. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three: benefiting beings by employing skillful means, and the manner of employing skillful means, which is to show the employment itself. Employing skillful means to benefit beings: First, a compassionate Bodhisattva practitioner, should manifestly employ various skillful means in order to destroy suffering. For even though they have not yet liberated themselves from samsara, they are heroes who wish to deliver other sentient beings from the suffering of samsara. This is universally applicable. If one does not understand liberation, which is the means of pacifying suffering, and its cause, the path to liberation, then it is very difficult to perfectly explain these to those to be tamed. Second, how to employ them? The practitioner should contemplate the cause of suffering, and its nature such as permanence and impermanence, with the intellect of scripture and reasoning. Because in this way, one sees the cause, place, and result of suffering, as well as the method of averting suffering, as they are. The practitioner should also constantly contemplate the opposite of the cause of suffering, because they strive to destroy the cause of suffering. How is the antidote known? The opposite of the cause of suffering will definitely be the antidote, because one thoroughly understands the nature or object and aspect of the cause of suffering, such as craving. Conditioned phenomena are objects of experience, and attachment to the aggregates as self and what belongs to self is the cause of intense suffering in samsara, because it is beneficial. From what does this attachment arise? Such attachment arises from grasping at self and what belongs to self, because it benefits and follows after it. The eye consciousness that directly sees selflessness is the destroyer of attachment to self and what belongs to self, because it can refute self-grasping through being contradictory to the object and aspect of self-grasping. Therefore, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, clearly understands the difference between the qualities and faults of the realization of selflessness and what is to be abandoned, because they have perfected the habituation of seeing selflessness for a long time through many means that become the cause of omniscience. For this reason, they have abandoned all the imprints of the cause of suffering. The great sage who only engages in the welfare of others is far superior to the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha Arhats, because they are a being who has completely abandoned the imprints of afflictions from the root by perfecting the wisdom of what to accept and reject. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
