Not only that, but one should always offer to the Lama (Guru), because one should regard the Lama as non-different from the main deity of the mandala. This is because he is like all the Buddhas in the field of accumulating merit. Similarly, that holy Lama should be offered the outer, inner, and secret offerings, as well as whatever material possessions he desires, without hesitation. The Vajra Heart Ornament says: 'If a wise Vajra disciple desires all happiness, he should offer with a devoted mind. Have you not offered what you thought in your mind? If you have not offered what you promised, you will surely be born in the two realms of pretas and hells, and be destroyed.' 'Inexhaustible' here means that if one obtains it, one obtains the state of being inexhaustible as long as space exists, which is the Dharmakaya. A disciple who desires that should offer the Lama whatever objects he likes, from the smallest to the most excellent. The Lama should also accept them in order to reverse the disciple's attachment. As the Sambhuta Tantra says: 'Whatever objects are collected, one should offer them to the Lama with a desireless mind. The Lama, being full of compassion, should accept them with the intention of benefiting the disciple, in order to reverse his attachment.' Second, the benefit is: 'Giving to him is always giving to all the Buddhas, therefore it is a collection of merit, from which the supreme accomplishment is obtained.' What kind of merit does one obtain by offering to the Lama in this way? The continuous giving to the Lama, that is, offering, is the same as continuous giving to all the Buddhas, therefore one will obtain a collection of merit in one's own continuum. Therefore, giving to the holy Lama is the most excellent of all collections of merit. From accumulating such a vast collection of merit, one will quickly obtain the supreme accomplishment, that is, Buddhahood. As the Fifth Chapter says: 'Having abandoned all offerings, truly begin to offer to the Lama. By pleasing him, one will obtain the supreme wisdom of omniscience. The teacher who does the unsurpassed, by offering to Vajrasattva, what is there that he has not accumulated merit and has not relied on asceticism?' Third, by summarizing these points, by showing that the deity and the Lama are non-different, therefore, disciple with compassion --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Generosity, discipline, patience possess virtues, the guru and the Vajra Holder, should not be thought of as different.' Thus it is said, viewing the guru as a field for accumulating merit, like all Buddhas. Therefore, a supreme disciple, with the great compassion of the Mahayana moistening their mind, continuously dedicates their body, possessions, and virtuous roots to the benefit of sentient beings, and possesses the virtues of vows and pure discipline that have been promised, and patience that does not tire of the wrongdoings and hardships of sentient beings. Therefore, the Vajra Guru and the Vajra Holder, that is, the Buddha and Vajradhara, should not be regarded as different, but should be viewed as inseparable. Thus, in the Root Tantra of the Glorious Guhyasamaja it is said: 'Bhagavan, how should all the Tathagatas' body, speech, and mind, the secret union of Vajras, view the guru who has been fully empowered? Son of lineage, view the minds of all the Tathagatas and Bodhisattvas as Vajras. Why? The guru is one with the mind of enlightenment, and there is no duality.' In the Vajra Tent it is said: 'Whoever is called Vajrasattva, that is the form of the guru. For the benefit of sentient beings, he abides in the form of an ordinary person.' In the Vajra Essence Ornament it is said: 'A disciple who always respects the guru should view the guru in this way: the guru is equal to all the Buddhas, and he is always the Vajra Holder.' Thus it is said. Similarly, in the Salty River Source Sutra it is said: 'In the final five hundred years, I will abide in the form of a guru, you should think of me in that way, and generate respect for him.' Thus it is said. Regarding the way to view the guru as the nature of the Buddha, in the Vajra Garland it is said: 'In this body of the Vajra Guru, the bodies of the Buddhas abide in sequence, this aggregate of form is the Bhagavan Vairochana.' And so on. In the Vajra Dakini it is said: 'The self-nature body of all the Buddhas, the limbs are Bodhisattvas, the pores are Arhats, the crown of the head is the Buddha of a hundred families, the world is the footstool, the rays of light are Yakshas and secrets, etc. Thus, the body of the self-nature of virtues, the yogi should always view.' Thus it is said. Therefore, in this present age, ordinary sentient beings... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
