One should not strike with sticks, etc. Poison refers to mixtures, etc., and these unpleasant causes of death will act. Similarly, the king's punishment, fire, venomous snakes (i.e., poisonous snakes), water, flesh-eating Ḍākinīs, robbers, the retinue demons of the ten directional guardians, and malicious heretical spirits, being killed by their harm, sentient beings will go to hell, i.e., be born there. 1-518 Second, the faults of greatly disturbing the mind: If there is such a fault for merely despising and reviling, how will it be if the mind is greatly disturbed? Therefore, one should never disturb the minds of the teachers. If one does so out of ignorance, one will surely be tormented in hell. That is, one should strictly restrain one's own three doors of action, and never at any time disturb the mind of the Vajra master, i.e., do not displease the master. If a disciple does this out of ignorance of the results of actions, he will be tormented and burned in hell, because this action is very powerful and will surely produce results without fail. Although it is a definite karma, it is said in the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand that it can be purified by the four powers. Second, specifically explaining the faults of not seeing: Wherever the terrifying hells such as Avīci are taught, those who revile the teacher will dwell there. That is, the hells mentioned above, which are said to be entered, are known as the Vajra hells in many Tantras. In the Sutras, it is said that Avīci is the hell where there is no greater torment and suffering. Jowo Je (Atiśa) said in the 'Letter' that these two have the same meaning. 1-519 The words of the lineage masters say that (these hells) exist in the form of towns and monasteries. This indicates that all the terrifying and unbearable sufferings of the extremely hot hells, etc., that are taught, i.e., whatever is said in the Sutras and Tantras, those ignorant disciples who revile the Vajra master must dwell there for a long time and experience unimaginable suffering. As it is said in the Explanatory Tantra Vajra Tent: 'Having made a qualified master, if someone reviles the master, when beings revile the master, they will be tormented in the great hell.' It is also said: 'Whatever disciple is perfectly empowered, who transgresses the master's command, will become blind in this world, and will go to hell in the next world.' Deceit and illusion...

'Unable to overcome with false words, suffering from severe leprosy, will be born in hell and other evil realms.' Furthermore, the Root Tantra of Guhyasamaja says: 'Beings who commit the five heinous crimes, etc., even if they commit great evils, the Vajrayana is like a great ocean, and liberation can be achieved through this supreme vehicle.' If one reviles the teacher from the heart, even if one practices diligently, it will not be accomplished. Thus, even those who have committed great evils such as the five heinous crimes can be liberated through the path of Vajrayana. However, those who revile the teacher from the heart will never have the opportunity to achieve accomplishment. Moreover, accompanied by such evil deeds, even if one pleases them with worldly pleasures, it will not be accomplished, as stated in the Great Commentary, 'Lamp Illuminating.' Similarly, these misdeeds will rob all accomplishments and are the root of extremely unbearable suffering in the lower realms. These teachings have been repeatedly emphasized in the precious tantras. The wise should act cautiously and not be negligent. Regarding the transgressions such as reviling the teacher, they are not taken seriously, and the differences in guarding the samaya and vows are not well understood. Even if they are understood, they are discarded, yet they claim to practice the profound path, which in reality opens the door to the terrifying lower realms. As the Vajra Heart Ornament says: 'Whoever reviles the true teacher, their lineage, even if they practice diligently, abandoning sleep and distractions, even if they practice diligently for a thousand kalpas, will accomplish hell and other evil realms.' The Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara also says: 'One who has broken vows, in the mandala, will not receive empowerment, nor will they attain accomplishment.' Second, from the perspective of having faults, it is shown that one should not despise the teacher: 'Therefore, with all effort, one should not revile the Vajra teacher of great wisdom, without boasting of one's own merits.' As mentioned above, if one suffers such great faults, it is difficult to endure. Therefore, one should exert all effort, wholeheartedly, and not revile the teacher. Whether this Vajra teacher possesses vast wisdom, whether he is a learned pandita who is proficient in scriptures, even if he does not boast of the merits of his mind, even if he is a yogi Kusali who hides his merits, one should not revile him at any time. This is an instruction to all disciples, especially those Vajrayana practitioners who diligently seek teachings everywhere.
