འཁོན་འཛིན་ (kön dzin, Holding grudges) is holding strong animosity. ཁེངས་པ་ (kheng pa, Arrogance) is extreme conceit. ཆགས་པ་ (chak pa, Attachment) is having a strong attachment to all the good things one possesses, such as wealth. མ་བསྡམས་པ་ (ma dam pa, Unrestrained) is being careless, that is, not taking countermeasures against afflictions in the mind and relaxing the observance of precepts. སྤྱོམས་དང་བཅས་པ་ (chöm dang che pa, Selfishness) comes from the word 'ཨཱཏྨ་ན' (Tibetan, Devanagari, ātman, Romanized Sanskrit, Self), being self-centered, doing everything only for oneself, or showing off even a little merit to others. Similarly, these qualities should be applied to the student in sequence and explained. Furthermore, the thirty-second chapter of the Vajra Dakini Sequence states: 'Whoever is angry, deceitful, speaks very harshly, and is content with any merit, should not be regarded as a guru.' Second, explaining from the perspective of practice: 'Stable, disciplined, intelligent, patient, honest, and without deceit.' This refers to both the guru and the disciple being stable, that is, not being distracted by the three doors (body, speech, and mind), and not being agitated. Disciplined means possessing the training of the mind and being able to abide in samadhi and other states. Intelligent means being able to discern the Dharma, having a clear faculty to distinguish between what is reasonable and unreasonable. Patient means being patient with the actions of the guru and the disciple, and not being discouraged by their hardships. Honest is stated from the perspective of practice, while deceit is to be negated. Among them, deceit means concealing one's own faults through deceptive means. Fraud means showing something that is not true with the intention of deceiving others, and these two should be eliminated. Honest is the opposite of these two. Second, there are three special qualities: the qualities themselves, the faults of despising a guru who possesses these qualities, and the benefits of respecting the guru. First, the qualities themselves are: 'Knowing the combination of mantras and tantras, being full of compassion, being proficient in treatises, fully understanding the ten suchnesses, being skilled in drawing mandalas, knowing the practice of explaining mantras, being extremely pure and subduing the senses.' This explains the special qualities of the guru. Among them, mantras refer to being able to practice through mantras and substances of pacifying, increasing, and other activities. Tantras refer to understanding the root tantras and explanatory tantras, etc. Combination refers to knowing the six means, six instructions, and five limbs, etc., of explaining these tantras. Being full of compassion means having strong compassion for sentient beings. Treatises refer to being proficient in treatises such as the Abhisamayalankara. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And also knows all kinds of Buddha's words, scriptures and treatises, such a person can be called a wise man. The ten suchness can be divided into three categories: the ten suchness required by Vajra Acharya (金刚阿阇梨, Vajra Acharya, 金刚上师), the ten suchness of rituals, and the ten suchness of suchness. The first category, as stated in the 'Consecration Tantra': 'Mandala, Samadhi, Mudra great, Posture, demeanor, mantra and sitting posture, Recitation, fire offering, food and, Applied to activities and collection.' The second category, the ten suchness of rituals, as in the meaning of Gur, Dombipa's (多比巴) 'Ten Suchness' says: 'Protection, empowerment, food, play and, Dispelling, two kinds, mandala, accomplishment and, Purifying sins and requesting to descend, ten suchness are said by the victors.' The third category, the ten suchness of suchness, as in the meaning of the 'Hundred Thousand Tantras', the 'Jewel Blazing Tantra' says: 'Vajra, bell, wisdom and, deity and mandala, fire offering and, mantra and colored powder, food and, empowerment, ten suchness, the wise know.' Thus, one can fully understand the thirty suchness. Being skilled in drawing mandalas means being proficient in drawing various empowerment mandalas from the beginning of the preliminary practice to the praise. In short, it means being skilled in meditating on the self-generation deity Samadhi mandala, being skilled in drawing colored powder mandalas, being skilled in offering the front-generation Buddha mandala, and being skilled in descending the wisdom mandala. Knowing the practice of mantra means being able to teach the path of mantra corresponding to the respective faculties of the superior, medium, and inferior beings. Complete purity means having unwavering devotion and faith in the Mahayana Buddhism, especially the Vajrayana. Subduing the senses means guarding the gates of the senses with mindfulness and awareness, and not letting the senses recklessly create evil deeds. Thus, there are a total of eleven suchness, including six common characteristics and nine special characteristics, totaling fifteen. What should be done if such a perfect guru cannot be found? The 'True Practice' says: 'In the degenerate age, due to the disturbance of afflictions, the virtues and faults of the guru are mixed. In any case, it is impossible to find a guru without faults. One should carefully observe and choose a guru whose virtues outweigh the faults, and disciples should rely on such a guru.' Therefore, gurus can be divided into three types: those whose virtues outweigh the faults, those whose virtues and faults are equal, and those who have no faults, while gurus whose faults outweigh the virtues should be avoided.
