It is meaningless. Valuing small gains and losses, I fear that the Lord of Death has already seized me. My thoughts are chaotic, and my heart is cold. This is my current state. Now I have such expectations for the afterlife: to completely abandon reliance on this life. 1-190 Leaving the crowd, I go to the empty and quiet mountains. Taking grass and trees without attachment as food, in the unerring Second Stage Yoga, I abide with unwavering focus. Transforming any arising circumstances into the path, I wait for the arrival of death. To fulfill the wishes of the Guru, I repay the kindness of beings in the three realms. You are the offering of devout disciples, please keep this in mind, all disciples. If your heart desires it, do it as it is. May my wishes be fulfilled, may there be auspiciousness! Gyalkhampa (the author) truthfully narrates the realization of the beginning, middle, and end of his life, without any exaggeration. May this be virtuous! Auspicious! Guru Rinpoche prophesied: Even if you go to the center of U-Tsang (U-Tsang, a region in Tibet), you must stay away from the territory of Michu Tökyen (Michu Tökyen, a person's name). In the place of Andak Töndrompa Sakya (Andak Töndrompa Sakya, a place name), as an unattached practitioner, it is difficult to tame people now, so focus on profound practice. In the glorious Chakrasamvara Yoga, practice Hevajra (Tibetan: དགྱེས་པ་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हेवज्र, Sanskrit Romanization: Hevajra, Chinese literal meaning: Hevajra) in sequence, making you the Yidam deity for attaining enlightenment. The retinue mother goddess of glorious Ganapati (Tibetan: གར་ན་པ་ཏི།, Sanskrit Devanagari: गणपति, Sanskrit Romanization: Ganapati, Chinese literal meaning: Ganesha), the red goddess who bestows wealth, and glorious Kamaraja (Tibetan: ཀཱ་མ་རཱ་ཛ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: कामराज, Sanskrit Romanization: Kamaraja, Chinese literal meaning: Kamaraja), successively take them as deities who rule the three realms. Also, Dakyongpa Shyon (Dakyongpa Shyon, a deity name) and Black Hayagriva (Black Hayagriva, a deity name), and Yamantaka (Tibetan: གཤིན་རྗེ་གཤེད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: यमजित्, Sanskrit Romanization: Yamajit, Chinese literal meaning: Yamantaka) with the face of glorious Mahisha (Tibetan: མ་ཧེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: महिष, Sanskrit Romanization: Mahisha, Chinese literal meaning: Mahisha). Gurkhyen (Gurkhyen, a deity name) is the chief of the Dharma protectors, practice them in sequence, and protect the Dharma. By means of the profound subtle energies and the self-arising sound of mantras, as well as Tara (Tibetan: སྒྲོལ་དཀར།, Sanskrit Devanagari: तारा, Sanskrit Romanization: Tara, Chinese literal meaning: Tara), Amitayus (Tibetan: ཚེ་དཔག་མེད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: अमिताभ, Sanskrit Romanization: Amitabha, Chinese literal meaning: Amitayus), and the Protector (Tibetan: མགོན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: नाथ, Sanskrit Romanization: Natha, Chinese literal meaning: Natha), extend life, and White Protector (White Protector, a deity name) bestows wealth and wishes. Keep these in mind and put them into action. Homage to the Guru! Jetsun Khaupa (Jetsun Khaupa, a person's name), the kind teacher without any return, I prostrate from the bottom of my heart, you are my crown ornament. Appearance and emptiness are like illusions and dreams, it is the dance of interdependent arising. The cave is empty, echoing my song, Guru! Compassionately watch me from afar, kind Dorinpa (Dorinpa, a person's name)! I am inseparable from you from the bottom of my heart, Father Gören Dorje Chang (Gören Dorje Chang, a person's name)! The birds meditating on the hillside. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How delightful it is to hear the melodious songs of the wing-changing birds! Have you not noticed that the sunlight is gradually fading? Wouldn't it be better to return to your nests and settle down? Wouldn't you regret being caught by a fox for no reason? Please, alpine birds, think carefully! Please, beautiful and melodious birds, think again! Young people of the same age and with kindred spirits! How joyful it is to sing and play! Have you not noticed that the shadows are falling on the plains? Wouldn't it be better to gather firewood and prepare for the cold? Wouldn't you regret angering your kind mother? Please, beloved children of your mothers, think carefully! Please, young people of the same age and with pleasing hearts, think again! Hermits dwelling in secluded mountains. How delightful it is to be carefree and uninhibited! Do you not know that the Lord of Death, the demon, is coming? Wouldn't it be better to meditate single-mindedly? Wouldn't you regret wasting your precious leisure and opportunity? Please, yogis and renunciates, think carefully! Please, great meditators in the mountains, think again! You have obtained the rare leisure and opportunity of a human body. You have been compassionately embraced by a qualified master. You have received the essential instructions of the profound tantras. Wouldn't it be better to attain Buddhahood in this one lifetime? Please, practitioners with bodhicitta, worthy sons of the kind master, practice diligently! Please, renunciates wandering the realms, think carefully! This was composed by a practitioner of the Jonang tradition in Ani (place name), in a mountain cave, expressing his feelings at dusk. At that time, he saw many alpine birds playing on the meadow in front, and many shepherds gathering firewood and playing on the plain behind, and thought that these scenes could also inspire people to do good, so he wrote this poem to remind himself. May it be auspicious! This is the heartfelt advice from Chöje Norbu (chos rje nor bu) to Bhende Losal (b+hende blo gsal). Namo Guru! Homage to the kind root guru! You, precious Norbu (nor bu, meaning wish-fulfilling jewel)! Please listen. I, your disciple, pour out my heart to you. Please practice diligently with devotion. All the appearances and perceptions of this life. Are like a dream you had last night. There is no real meaning in them. Let go of your attachment to them and abide in the uncontrived nature. The kind guru you admire. Is the embodiment of Vajradhara (rdo rje 'chang). With a smiling face and a joyful expression. Visualize the guru abiding in the space in front of you. From beginningless time until now. All the sins you have accumulated wandering in samsara. And all the negative karma you have created, I confess from the bottom of my heart. And generate joy at the thought of them. I offer all my human body and possessions. To the guru and the Three Jewels. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
