Being free from elaborations, it abandons the extreme of existence. Activities enter the realm of those to be tamed in a manner like an illusion, thereby abandoning the extreme of non-existence. Thus, the meaning that pervades all stages of fruition and is constant is called the Middle Way. Third, refuting the errors of other Madhyamikas: If someone says that all dharmas are empty of their own essence, therefore they do not exist. This will lead to the view of annihilation. If, on top of that, it is said that even the emptiness of being empty of one's own essence does not exist. Needless to say, it will turn into annihilation, but it is a great extreme of annihilation. The above is the explanation of the first aspect of identifying the nature of Madhyamika. Second, the detailed explanation from the perspective of the basis, path, and result is divided into three parts, the first of which is the basis. Establishing from the general characteristics of knowable objects, and explaining each particular individually. The first part is further divided into four aspects. Examining from the three dharmas: In general, the Victorious Teacher Buddha examines through the five aggregates, eighteen realms, and twelve sources.

The nose smells odors, the tongue tastes flavors, and the body experiences touch. Unobstructed things are non-revealing forms, such as form, etc. This division into three is based on not distinguishing between the real and the imputed. If the real and the imputed are distinguished, then the unobstructed is included in the Dharma realm. Secondly, all the mind's sense bases and related things can be summarized into three: mind, intellect, and consciousness. The first of these is the Alaya consciousness, and the second refers to the afflicted mind. As stated in the sutra: "The mind is the Alaya consciousness, and the grasping at self is the intellect." The third refers to the consciousnesses that function, such as eye consciousness. Thirdly, the Dharma realm can also be divided into three: the Dharma of the basis, the Dharma of the characteristic, and the non-existent thing. The first is the Dharma of the existent substance, the second is the Dharma of the imputed, and the third is purely imputed. First, the Dharma of the basis can also be divided into three: feeling, perception, and formation. The first can also be summarized into three: pleasure, pain, and equanimity. So why are there five divisions of feeling? Because unpleasant feelings are included in suffering, and pleasant feelings are included in happiness. Secondly, the aggregate of perception can also be divided into inverted perception, pure perception, and correct perception. Their definitions are: perceiving self in what is selfless, perceiving permanence in what is impermanent, perceiving earth as water, etc., are inverted perceptions; perceiving moisture as water, perceiving movement as wind, etc., are pure perceptions; perceiving conditioned things as impermanent, perceiving contaminated things as suffering, etc., are correct perceptions. Thus, perceiving objects of attachment as skeletons, etc., are impure perceptions, which are generally inverted perceptions, but because their purpose is to become the cause of liberation, they are called correct perceptions. Thus, such distinctions are easy to understand. Alternatively, perception can be divided into distracted perception, meditative perception, and subtle perception.

The first is all the consciousnesses of the desire realm, which are associated with a distracted mind. The second is all the consciousnesses that are equally placed in the samadhi of the form and formless realms. Now, one might ask, can't the consciousness of the desire realm be equally placed like a one-pointed concentration? No, because the seeds of desire, hatred, and so on, have not been abandoned in relation to desire, it is placed as being associated with distraction. The third is not that there is absolutely no consciousness, but that consciousness is extremely subtle, so the peak of existence and the non-conceptual beings should also be accepted as such in one's own system. Third, conditioned phenomena, dividing them, are divided into three by the divisions of body, speech, and mind, and each of these can also be divided into three: virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral, thus dividing into nine. Thus, in the Abhidharmakosha, it is said that all the afflictions of the two upper realms are said to be neutral, and those that obstruct the attainment of omniscience and liberation are said to be obstructive neutrals, but here, the obstruction to the attainment of liberation and omniscience is itself a non-virtuous dharma, therefore, it is entirely included in the non-virtuous aspect. Therefore, for afflictions, the five root afflictions and the ten secondary afflictions, all of those can also be summarized into the three: desire, hatred, and ignorance, and all types of afflictions are included in them. The virtuous aspect is the definite arising of disgust from samsara, the virtue of non-attachment, and compassion and love for all sentient beings is the root of virtue of non-hatred, proper knowledge, the virtue of non-ignorance, and diligence in rejoicing in faith and virtue, and equally placing in samadhi, these six are virtuous. The way the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity arise from the above three divisions of consciousness is: from correct consciousness, virtuous actions arise. From inverted consciousness, non-virtuous consciousness arises. From pure consciousness, mostly neutral actions arise, but it is not absolutely certain, this is mostly because it is transformed by the influence of friends. Second, for the dharma of characteristics, it can be divided into three: imputation on objects, imputation on time, and imputation on things, that is, on essence. Among these, characteristics are all the imputed special dharmas, and that has not been examined.
