If it is thought that although it is newly arisen from nothing, it is not born, then, in that case, it would also be fallacious for these phenomena of matter and so on. For example, although a sprout arises from a seed, it would also be fallacious to say that the sprout is not born from the seed, because of that reason. Furthermore, if it is thought that it is possible for those cessations to be born initially but not ultimately perish, then, in that case, things would become permanent, because it is a thing since it is born initially, and because it does not ultimately perish, it would become permanent. Therefore, in our own system, although it is a non-entity, what is newly born is existent, and since that is produced by a cause, it becomes causal. In that way, it would become no different from a thing. If it is thought that whatever phenomenon is produced by a proximate cause, and exists as a substance, and the object of designation exists, those are things, and whatever phenomenon is not produced by a proximate cause, does not exist as a substance, and does not exist as an object of designation, that is a non-entity. That non-entity, in relation to dependence, is characterized by conditioned phenomena, because even what is merely imputed by mental discrimination arises in the aspect of negation, but there is no substantial arising in that, because it is merely in the aspect of investigation. Similarly, although it arises merely in conventionality, it does not arise in conventional truth. Therefore, having substantial arising and ceasing is only in conditioned things, and for conditioned non-entities, although it is established that there is arising and ceasing transformation merely in the aspect of mental investigation, let alone existing in the aspect of rational analysis, it also becomes the cause of arising for others and others in sense consciousness. There is no substantial thing arising merely from the cause of establishment and the acting cause, but in the aspect of investigation, it is produced by that, therefore, the meaning imputed by the mind, such as a rabbit's horn, is also because even ordinary individuals with discriminating ability can actually realize it as suffering. That also does not need to be established by reason, and what needs to be established as suffering by reason is because the suffering of children is not understood, and the suffering of conditioning that is grasped as happiness itself. That is also because all conditioning arises and ceases moment by moment, is of the nature of impermanence, so there is not even the slightest opportunity to remain, and there is no autonomy of remaining.

Suffering itself is due to the fact that one does not want to be destroyed but is destroyed. If one does not want to be destroyed but is destroyed involuntarily, then of course it is suffering. Even if one wants to be destroyed, and even if one is in an intermediate state of neither wanting to be destroyed nor not wanting to be destroyed, it is still suffering, because that destruction is also involuntary and helplessly destroyed. In the Four Noble Truths, suffering and the origin are observed from the same basis, with the origin being the cause and suffering being the result. For example, driven by the affliction of hatred, if a sentient being commits the act of killing, from the cause of origin arises the result of the truth of suffering, just as the aggregates of hell are formed. But in general, there is a relationship of mutual cause and effect between suffering and origin, so in all cases, the origin is not necessarily the cause, nor is suffering necessarily the result. The truth of the path, if analyzed through reason, although it is the supreme antidote to abandoning suffering and origin, it is also included in the category of suffering and origin, because the path in the continuum of the practitioner is also related to the aggregates of the practitioner's appropriation, and is of a nature that is momentary, impermanent, and without autonomy. All suffering arises from the power of the cause of impermanence. For example, wealth and prosperity, which were previously abundant, later perish, just like the suffering of separation from loved ones. As mentioned earlier, time passes moment by moment, and from impermanence, the suffering of those endings perishing will arise. Furthermore, the suffering of encountering unpleasant things also arises. For those who previously did not have suffering, that is also because time passes moment by moment, and from getting closer and closer to unpleasant things, the suffering of encountering unwanted things arises. Furthermore, things do not remain in their respective states, but change from that state to other states, and eventually perish, which is also a place of suffering and aversion. For example, starting from the cause of the seed, through the complete promotion of water, fertilizer, temperature, humidity, etc., it does not remain in the state of the seed, but that seed is completely destroyed, thereby entering the state of the sprout, and it does not remain in that state, but that sprout is completely destroyed, thereby completely entering the state of the fruit.
