Sa. Again, when its image appears in the mind at a distant place, even if it is not the real Mount Potala, it can symbolize the characteristics of Mount Potala because it has been seen directly before. A person who has never seen Potala before, no matter how they think about "Potala is like this," cannot symbolize it through any direct or indirect means. Similarly, although self-nature is luminous, no matter how much it is analyzed and determined with linguistic concepts, its true characteristics cannot be symbolized through any direct or indirect means. Thus, these relative interdependent connections are all general characteristics, so the expressing language cannot truly express them, and therefore they do not apply to self-characterized things. What need is there to mention that self-nature luminosity transcends these realms? Thus, if it is not the ultimate truth of interdependence, is it contradictory to realize the ultimate truth by relying on the practice of interdependence? This is not contradictory either, because all phenomena are merely interdependent arising. It is also possible to realize the selflessness of persons, because whatever is interdependent is of the nature of arising and ceasing due to causes and conditions, so it is impermanent. Moreover, these causes and conditions also have various natures, and the fruits they produce are also various, so they are not singular. This arising is also not autonomous, but arises from the dependence of causes and conditions. Therefore, it is possible to realize the impermanent, multiple, and dependent nature that is the opposite of the characteristics of the self of persons—permanent, singular, and autonomous—and thus enter the state of selflessness of persons. Moreover, these interdependent connections are not established as appearing as external objects, because they are merely consciousness. Thus, showing all appearances as only mind is to enter slightly into the state of selflessness of phenomena. Moreover, the only mind itself is also shown as not being established by its own nature, so it is to fully enter the selflessness of phenomena. Therefore, sentient beings rely on the continuum of aggregates and generate the delusion of mistaking persons as self. Relying on the alaya consciousness, the delusion of clinging to phenomena as the duality of grasper and grasped arises. This again
