It is like being soft, warm, round, solidified, and having the hands and feet differentiated. The five stages of the fetus are the limb of name and form. The fifth limb, the six sense sources, is when the six senses are fully developed after that. The sixth limb, contact, is when one is born from the womb and contact arises from the combination of object, sense faculty, and consciousness. And that contact is the part that arises when consciousness meets with an object and the object becomes known. The seventh limb, feeling, is when feeling arises after contact arises from the combination of object, sense faculty, and consciousness. For example, the eye sense faculty, and the pleasing object of form, and the eye consciousness combine, and the pleasing object is fully discerned by the eye consciousness, and contact arises, and after that, because one knows that object, the feeling of happiness is experienced. One should also understand how painful and neutral contact feelings arise based on unpleasant and intermediate objects. Similarly, other sense consciousnesses should be inferred. These six are classified into three types: pleasure, pain, and equanimity, and are called the eighteen mental activities. The eighth limb, craving, is attachment and clinging to the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity. That is, craving not to be separated from pleasure, craving to be separated from pain, and craving not to be separated from equanimity. Alternatively, there are three types of craving: desire craving, existence craving, and non-existence craving. In the Dharma Skandha Sutra, it is said that the first is of the desire realm, the second is of the two upper realms, and the third is the craving for wanting to abandon the aggregates. But Dharmakirti says that the first two are the same, and the third is the craving for fully grasping enjoyment, so this statement is considered reasonable. In the desire realm, there is craving for all three: dwelling, body, and enjoyment, and from this, unwholesome things arise. The two upper realms do not have objects of enjoyment, so there is no craving for enjoyment. However, there is only craving for dwelling and body, and even so, it depends on

Therefore, non-virtuous actions do not arise. The ninth limb is grasping: Thus, dependent on craving, grasping arises. For example, craving and attachment arise towards desirable objects such as food, drink, and enjoyment, therefore, the desire for it to occur again and again, and the ability to strive to accomplish it in various ways, is called grasping. Grasping is also divided into four types: desire grasping, ethical discipline and asceticism grasping, view grasping, and self-assertion grasping. The tenth limb is existence: possessing the karmic power to manifest and accomplish future existence. The eleventh limb is birth: If viewed from the perspective of the manifestation of the limb of birth, entering the womb is birth, and having entered the womb is the limb of aging and death. From the state of infancy, gradually changing moment by moment is aging. Here, aging and death are classified as one limb because death can occur even without aging, so it is said that way. Thus, it should be known that all the imprints of these twelve limbs are placed on the Alaya consciousness, and when they are not manifest and the seeds are fully ripened, the two situations of the manifestation of the twelve limbs will arise. Secondly, regarding the meaning of the treatise, it is divided into two types: explaining Maitreya Bodhisattva's "Distinguishing the Middle from the Extremes" and explaining the verses of Vasubandhu's treatise. The first type is further divided into three main points, the first of which is to explain from the perspective of eleven classifications: sentient beings are always suffering and afflicted because ignorance obscures the wisdom of reality. And the wisdom of reality is the equipoise wisdom of the noble Bodhisattvas, and their subsequent attainment of purity is also included within it. Apart from that, the non-erroneous wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating is also in accordance with the wisdom of reality, so it should be known that it is only in accordance with the wisdom of reality. The limb of action is: on the Alaya consciousness, the types of merit and non-merit, as well as unwavering action.
