Therefore, there is nothing other than the Alaya-vijñana. If there is no consciousness in those states, then it is very unreasonable. Firstly, it is evident that there is consciousness in both deep sleep and fainting, because one will wake up from them again, and it is obvious to see the body's temperature and sweat appearing. If one thinks there is no consciousness, then it contradicts direct perception. Moreover, just as cutting a corpse does not produce sin, if one completely cuts the body of a person in the state of sleep and fainting, the cutter will not incur sin, because he has no consciousness. In addition to these two states, both samadhis also have consciousness, because one will wake up from them again. To this, the opponent says that even if there is no consciousness in those states, cutting the body will not produce sin because there is life. Action is also not a real thing other than the body and mind, but a nominal existence established on the state of the union of mind and body. Therefore, the mind that is united with the body, although the five sense consciousnesses are only a small part, will also be interrupted. Therefore, in the state where the five sense consciousnesses are interrupted, the union of body and mind will also be interrupted. Therefore, life will also be interrupted. So, the mind of the union of body and mind is definitely not the five sense consciousnesses. That mind is also not the mind consciousness, because it is unidentifiable and unobstructed, because it does not depend on form. Furthermore, even if there is no mind, for example, when a Bhikshu Arhat enters Nirodha-samapatti for seven days, if the Alaya-vijñana does not exist, then the mind that awakens later will have no proximate cause, and therefore it will become causeless. To this, the opponent says that it will not be like that, the initial consciousness at the time of entering Nirodha-samapatti will be the proximate cause of the consciousness that awakens later after seven days. If you think like that, it is not right, because the initial consciousness at the time of entering has already ceased. The two consciousnesses at the time of initial entry have also ceased equally. To think that it is the same to arise from that is very unreasonable.

The same, because of being separated for a long time. For example, if there is no separation between fire and firewood by other objects and time, then the fire will burn the firewood, just as continuous existence will not forget hearing and so on, which is obvious. Furthermore, if fainting and deep sleep, etc., are due to the power of the four elements of the body causing the mind to cease, then rebirth will also be caused by the control of the elements, and thus the substance of the mind will become the creation of the elements, which is the same as the view of the materialist heretics. Therefore, it is said in the scriptures that there is no mind in the two states of absorption, This is a negation of an inferior state. Therefore, it is not that there is no consciousness at all, because the consciousness at that time is the Alaya consciousness. Therefore, saying that there is no mind refers to a change of mind. Therefore, it can be determined that there is mind in those four states, and the mind at that time is also inseparable from the Alaya consciousness, because in those states, the six consciousnesses have ceased and disappeared. Although some may have afflicted mind, the afflicted mind is not the master of consciousness, because it depends on the Alaya consciousness. If there is afflicted mind, then there must also be Alaya consciousness. If there is no Alaya consciousness, then all defilements and the cause and effect of purification will not be established. First, the cause and effect of all defilements will not be established, because if there is no Alaya consciousness, then the cause of committing sins will not lead to the result of experiencing suffering, because the sinful act will disappear immediately, and there is no place to store the seeds of the habit of that act—the Alaya consciousness. For example, when a person kills an animal, the thought of wanting to kill this animal, wanting to stab it with a weapon, is the real act of killing, and the physical and verbal actions caused by it are not the real act, but they will also disappear immediately after they arise. When they disappear, you do not admit that the habit of the act is stored in the Alaya consciousness, and if it is transferred from that life to hell, then its proximate cause
