Moreover, for someone who has already severed attachment to the realm of nothingness and below, even if they have not abandoned the afflictions of the peak of existence, they have manifested the mind of the peak of existence. By cultivating the samadhi of pacifying the mind, which is the samadhi that prevents the appearance of forms, sounds, and so on, one attains cessation. For noble Bodhisattvas, due to their infinite miraculous powers, it is difficult to define them with a single characteristic. However, when they temporarily abide in the absorption of cessation, they are established as having no afflicted mind. And for a certain type of non-returner and a lesser Arhat, when they abide in the absorption of cessation, they completely lack an afflicted mind. Because in both the Mahayana and Hinayana transcendent paths, there is no nature of an afflicted mind, as previously explained. Third, explaining the six entering consciousnesses: The difference in essence lies in the consciousness that takes the six objects of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena as its objects, which is the six entering consciousnesses. The difference in aspect lies in the fact that there are unwholesome, wholesome, and neutral feelings that are neither of the two, and all three aspects can arise. The difference in companions lies in the five omnipresent mental factors, the five specific mental factors (i.e., the five object-determining mental factors), the eleven wholesome mental factors such as faith, the six root afflictions, the twenty secondary afflictions, and the four variable mental factors, etc. Although it is not possible for all these mental factors to appear as retinue at the same time, all mental factors can appear individually in the retinue of the six entering consciousnesses. For example, when eye consciousness arises as wholesome, the common retinue such as the five omnipresent mental factors will arise, and the wholesome mental factors such as the eleven wholesome factors like faith will also arise, but the six root afflictions and other unwholesome factors will not arise. When eye consciousness arises as unwholesome, the wholesome mental factors will not arise in its retinue. These six entering consciousnesses equally possess feelings of pleasure, pain, and neutrality. Do these eight aggregates of consciousness arise simultaneously, or do they arise sequentially? In reality, both situations occur. Although the "five" does not directly mention the five sense consciousnesses, it also includes mind consciousness and afflicted mind. Therefore, the root
