So! Furthermore, the meaning of "immeasurable like the great ocean" and so on is: For example, the Dharmadhatu is similar in nature to the great ocean, because it naturally possesses immeasurable and inexhaustible qualities. The immeasurable qualities and the Dharmadhatu are inseparable, like a lamp. These are explained in detail as follows: For example, the great ocean has a solid golden ground beneath it, is well surrounded by an iron fence, and is an extremely vast container. All of it is filled with immeasurable and inexhaustible water, and within it reside limitless kinds of jewels that produce all needs and desires. That which possesses these three characteristics is called the ocean. Similarly, the Dharmakaya is the Dharmadhatu, the suchness itself, because it is the basis of all qualities, so it is similar to a container. The wisdom of the Victorious Ones is the collection of qualities, and since it has existed primordially in the Dharmakaya, it is similar in nature to a jewel. Since the Dharmakaya is pervaded by great compassion, great compassion is similar in nature to water. The metaphor for the inseparability of the immeasurable qualities and the Dharmadhatu is like a lamp, explained in detail as follows: For example, without examination or analysis, the light of a lamp, its warm touch, and its color are indistinguishable. Similarly, in the stainless realm of the Dharmadhatu, the wisdom that knows as many phenomena as there are, such as clairvoyance, is similar in nature to the light of a lamp. The wisdom that knows reality as it is, because it burns away defilements, is similar to the warm touch of a lamp. Stainless suchness is the abandonment that has never been stained by adventitious defilements, and it is the color of the Dharmadhatu, so it is similar in nature to the color of a lamp. Therefore, these three exist in the Dharmadhatu in an indivisible manner. Furthermore, for example, one painter knows how to draw a head but does not know how to draw anything else; similarly, one knows how to draw a hand, one knows how to draw a foot, one knows how to draw an eye, one knows how to draw a mouth, and so on. Each person knows how to draw only one part, but does not know how to draw everything. If they are told to draw a picture of a king on a canvas, then the painting...

Even if one painter is incomplete, they cannot fully depict the image. If all painters are complete, they can fully depict the image of the king. Similarly, if any one of the six perfections—generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom—is incomplete, the image of emptiness endowed with all aspects will not manifest. If all six are complete, the image of emptiness, endowed with all supreme qualities, like the reflection of a king, will manifest. These are the explanations of all aspects of the Dharmadhatu. Explaining the nature of non-elaboration: the nature of the Dharmadhatu, unmixed with the extremes of elaboration, is that just as jewels, the sky, and water are pure by nature, so too, the Dharmadhatu is always free from being tainted by the nature of afflictions and so on. For example, the sky pervades all objects, internal and external, but because it is subtle, it is never tainted by the nature of objects. The sky pervades the element of fire, but it does not become hot or have the nature of burning. Similarly, the Dharmadhatu abides in all sentient beings, but it is never tainted by the attachment, hatred, and so on in the minds of sentient beings. These explain the nature of non-mixture. Explaining the nature of union: the Dharmadhatu, which is distinct, is empty because of the adventitious stains, and therefore is also emptiness. The Dharmadhatu, which is non-distinct, is not empty because of the supreme qualities, and therefore is also not emptiness. Therefore, the Dharmadhatu is the nature of the union of emptiness and non-emptiness. Explaining the lineage and essence: all embodied beings are endowed with the essence of the Buddha, because the body of the perfect Buddha radiates, that is, pervades. Its meaning is that the wisdom of the Buddha enters the assembly of sentient beings. All embodied beings are endowed with the essence of the Buddha, because there is no difference between the Suchness of the Buddha and the Suchness of sentient beings. The nature is stainless, therefore it is non-dual. Again, all embodied beings are endowed with the essence of the Buddha, because they possess the lineage of the Buddha.
