Possessing equality and so on. In the context of this supreme patience, one cultivates the five powers. That is, the five, such as faith, transform into powers. The opposing factors of the five, such as lack of faith, must be weakened, and because the antidotes that do not manifest are not neglected, they are called powers. These, in order, are the heat stage, and the word "etcetera" includes the peak stage, patience stage, and supreme dharma stage. The fifth quality is that such a Bodhisattva serves and honors immeasurable Buddha-fields for immeasurable eons. Because of serving and honoring them, one becomes more capable and supreme than before. At that time, one can grasp the words and meanings of the Dharma from immeasurable Buddhas, and relying on the samadhi of the Dharma continuum, one will obtain vast teachings in order to achieve the necessary calm abiding and insight wisdom in the Buddha-fields. Furthermore, although the Bodhisattva appears to possess all the qualities of prosperity, he sees them as unreal, like illusions and apparitions. In times of prosperity and happiness, he is not afraid of the reversal of the mind of enlightenment due to afflictions and arrogance. Even if all wealth is exhausted and life comes to an end, by the power of virtuous deeds, going to the next life for the benefit of others is understood in the mind as going to a joyful feast in a pleasure garden, and even in times of decline, one is not afraid of suffering. Therefore, one does not degenerate due to the causes of prosperity and decline. Thus, the Bodhisattva cultivates the three samadhis that eliminate all obscurations, and must abandon the four inversions with the four seals of the Dharma. The objects of the samadhis are emptiness, wishlessness, and signlessness. The objects of the three samadhis are, in order, the two types of selflessness of the person and selflessness of phenomena, as well as the aggregates of appropriation, which are the basis of grasping at a self, and its basis, which is pacification, that is, nirvana without appropriation. If distinguished, then the three objects that are grasped, the nature of the samadhi that holds them is also threefold.

It should be known. The aspect is that the samadhi of emptiness is non-conceptualizing the two grasps. The samadhi of no aspiration is turning one's back on the aggregates that are the basis for grasping at a self, that is, not desiring them. The samadhi of no sign is that its basis is pacified in it, it is constantly joyful and possesses similarity. The necessity of familiarizing oneself with them is in order to fully know the two selflessnesses, and to abandon the basis of self-grasping, and in order to directly see the pacification of its basis, therefore, the samadhis of emptiness and so forth are explained in order, having three meanings. After the three samadhis, the four seals of the Dharma are taught. Moreover, wishing to benefit sentient beings, the Buddhas, as the cause of the samadhi of no aspiration, the Dharma seals are, among the four aspects, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. All contaminated things are suffering. And, as the cause of the samadhi of emptiness, all phenomena are selfless. With the samadhi of no sign, nirvana is peace, thus it is taught to the Bodhisattvas. The individual characteristics of those four seals are: The meaning of these four Dharma seals of the steadfast Bodhisattvas is as follows: All conditioned phenomena are impermanent. The meaning of what is said is that all conditioned phenomena are not as the minds of those who grasp at permanence measure them, they are unchanging, there is no meaning of constant existence. All contaminated things are suffering, what is said is that non-true conceptualization, the mind and mental factors of the three realms are the meaning of other-power. All phenomena are selfless, what is said is pervasive discrimination, it is only the meaning of selflessness that is pervasively imputed by children. The word "only" indicates that the self that is pervasively imputed does not exist, only other-dependence, pervasive discrimination, exists merely conventionally. Nirvana is peace, what is said is the nature of phenomena, the perfected nature, in which conceptualization is pacified. In short, in the stages of the four paths of joining, the way in which the appearance of clarity arises in emptiness occurs gradually. In general, all that is pervasively imputed, and especially the external phenomena that are the object of grasping.
