Although the paths of the three vehicles have their respective practices, the ultimate practice is to converge on the wisdom of omniscience, because all vehicles ultimately tend and flow towards omniscience. The departure of the three vehicles abides in the fruit of one vehicle. Second, identifying the nature of the path: A person who has generated the intention and action of the Great Vehicle is established as a person of the Great Vehicle. The intention and action of the Great Vehicle also have many aspects, such as the mind of enlightenment, the practice of generosity, the six perfections, and the four means of gathering disciples, but in summary, the nature of the path of the Great Vehicle can be summarized as one, which is the mind of enlightenment. The nature of the path of the Great Vehicle, the mind of enlightenment, can be divided into two: the ultimate mind of enlightenment and the conventional mind of enlightenment. These two are, respectively, the wisdom that realizes the emptiness of the duality of grasping and being grasped, and great compassion. These two are also called means and wisdom. The Sutra of Inexhaustible Intelligence says, "Means is great compassion, its unborn nature is wisdom." The union of these two is also called the mind of enlightenment. The same sutra says, "Emptiness and compassion are inseparable, the mind of enlightenment is the ultimate truth." If one wishes to attain unsurpassed enlightenment, these two are indispensable. The noble Nagarjuna said, "If you wish to attain unsurpassed enlightenment, its root is the mind of enlightenment, as stable as the king of mountains, and great compassion that pervades all directions, and wisdom that does not rely on the two graspers." If we divide it a little more elaborately, it can be divided into three: on top of these two, through skillful means, we cultivate from various paths of accumulating merit, such as generosity. But this is not to say that it does not include the two, means and wisdom, because some generosity and so on are real means, and some belong to the cause of the branch of wisdom, as it is said in the Bodhicaryavatara, "All these branches, the Buddha said, are for the sake of wisdom." If we divide it more elaborately, the nature of the path...

There are four causes for the maternal source. For example, when a king's son is born, he needs the cause of the seed, the mother who nurtures the body, the womb, and the wet nurse who raises him. Just as these four conditions must be complete, here, to be born as the son of the victorious bodhisattva, one needs faith in the Mahayana Dharma, like the cause of a seed, and so on, which are included by the word "etc."; like the mother who gives birth, one needs the wisdom that realizes selflessness; like the womb that grows, one needs meditation; like the wet nurse who raises, one needs great compassion. These four dharmas are the cause of becoming the son of the Tathagata, the perfectly enlightened Buddha. As it says in the Uttaratantra, "Faith in the supreme vehicle is the seed, wisdom is the mother who gives birth to the Buddhas, meditation is the womb of bliss, compassion is the wet nurse. Whoever has these is the son born after accomplishment." Therefore, these four are said to be the cause of bodhisattvas. If you think that they are not the cause of the Buddha, then there is no fault, because the cause of the bodhisattva also becomes the cause of the Buddha, because the Buddha is born from the sprout of the victorious one, the bodhisattva. If it is said that it is unreasonable to explain the four causes of enlightenment in this way, because the noble Chandrakirti said that great compassion, non-dual wisdom, and the three bodhicittas are the cause of the sons of the victorious ones, the bodhisattvas. As it says in the Entering the Middle Way, "Compassionate mind and non-dual wisdom, bodhicitta are the cause of the sons of the victorious ones." If someone thinks like that, then some people think that there are three causes because they misunderstand the words of the noble Nagarjuna, "If you want to attain unsurpassed enlightenment," etc., which were quoted above, but in reality it is not reasonable. If you are only stating the names of the causes, then accumulating merit through skillful means, etc., will not be included there, and there will be the fault of incompleteness. If you want to state the main part of the cause, then the main cause of liberation and omniscience is the wisdom that realizes suchness, so it would be reasonable to only state that, but the distinction between compassion and bodhicitta
