It is necessary to know that merely the emptiness that is distinguished by the nature of reality and established as I am, cuts off the emptiness itself as being real. If the meaning of selflessness and unreality, etc., is not understood as it is, if the word "unreal" is a general sound, or if there is something established by nature, then there must be something that can be established independently without relying on anything. However, since such an establishment is impossible, there is no such establishment on any internal or external dharma, so it is called not established by nature. If one's own nature exists, it must exist in accordance with appearance. For example, if a patterned rope appears as a snake, if the appearance of the snake exists by its own nature, then it must be in accordance with appearance and have the characteristics of a snake. However, the appearance of the snake is not established by nature. Even if it appears as a snake, if it is not established there, then other things such as horses and cattle appear there, but not as a snake. Since this is the case, there is no need to mention establishment from one's own perspective. Similarly, if all phenomena of appearance and sound are not established in their own nature, how can they be established in the nature of others? They are not established at all. Furthermore, relying on correct reasoning such as oneness and difference, understanding and ascertaining the meaning of the aggregates and other dharmas as being without truth, when this wisdom and subsequent wisdom arise in one's own mindstream, even during meditation, the manifest elaborations of clinging to characteristics, such as clinging to unreality, will not arise. This is mainly for bodhisattvas with sharp minds. For some bodhisattvas with lower intelligence, in order to cut off the elaborations of clinging to characteristics, even during meditation, there will be elaborations of clinging to characteristics that cling to unreality, and what is summarized by the word "etc." is thinking of being free from elaborations, thinking that it is emptiness, etc. Although these clinging to characteristics must be separately prevented from the perspective of the subject, there is no difference between unreality, freedom from elaborations, and emptiness from the perspective of the object or nature. Second, the pervasive ultimate truth is: the nature of mind is clear light, the dharmadhatu that is free from elaborations from the beginning, for all pure and impure dharmas, there is no near or far, the pervasive ultimate, which is the essence of the Sugata, the wisdom of stainless non-conceptualization. Or, the ultimate truth

For you, there is a distinction between the conventional truth of the ultimate and the ultimate truth of the ultimate. The first is: the essence of the Dharma-nature Sugata-garbha, from the aspect of merely being free from the duality of grasping and being grasped, is the conventional truth of the ultimate; from the aspect of the emptiness of that which is to be negated, the emptiness-basis, the non-dual wisdom, self-awareness, and self-illumination, is the ultimate truth of the ultimate. These two are only different in aspect, but in terms of essence, the absence of grasping and being grasped, and the presence of non-dual wisdom, become one and not two. For example, like a golden vase, it exists from the perspective of the vase and does not exist from the perspective of the pillar, the two are not different modes of existence. Third, regarding the basis of distinction: some consider appearance alone as the basis for distinguishing the two truths, some consider dependent origination as the basis for distinguishing the two truths, some consider the object without fabrication and the truth as the basis for distinction, and so on, there are various views. However, according to our own system, merely the knowable within the limits of existence is the basis for distinguishing the two truths. As it is said in the Sutra of the Meeting of Father and Son: "What is to be known is also conventional, and in the ultimate truth, this is exhausted." Therefore. Fourth, explaining the necessity of distinction: In general, knowledge is divided into two minds, conceptual consciousness and wisdom, conceptual consciousness understands conventional phenomena in the manner of other-awareness, while wisdom understands ultimate phenomena in the manner of self-awareness. Thus, distinguishing the two modes of understanding, and the existence of the contaminated samsara as the object of conceptualizers and the uncontaminated nirvana as the object of yogis, and the realms of ordinary beings and noble ones who take these two as objects, each exist separately. Therefore, the division of truth into two is due to the power of those necessities. Others consider whatever appears as conventional and whatever is empty as ultimate, and since appearance and emptiness are indistinguishable in essence, this differs from those who consider the two truths as having the same essence but different aspects. Furthermore, if one does not distinguish the respective realms in that way, but only considers it from the perspective of ultimate wisdom, then there is only the single ultimate truth, and nothing else. In the ultimate truth, conventional phenomena
